It's not that bad guys.
2015 Honda CB300F start point, Yamaha 2017 MT-03, 2017 BMW g-310-gs and now Honda 2014 CB500F recently. Finally flipped out of the low HP 300 class. Since I have an open licence I have no restriction on which bike I buy except I
have no money and I'm old. We are not staying in our budget so being able to move up in bikes and add a bit to the kitty is a welcome thing.
There is almost no friction in flipping bikes here...just roadworthy ( $70 - think Safety ) and a $100 transfer fee. Flipping in close time period means no added costs to roadworthy.
Those other bikes I listed are ones that came up that might be of interest if I get my $$ for the current ride.
2014 Honda CB500Fa cABS
WIndscreen on order, new throttle lock and plate for the topcase. I did treat myself to a new helmet for $147 since both of mine are tired....grumpy partner asked why I needed two helmets.....sigh.
Want longer foot pegs...my size 12 boots don't feel stable and it gets wet here.
Riding buddy suggested these which he had on his CB500x
There are so many options out there, hard to know what to buy for strength. I'm no light weight at 108kg and while I do not stand up that often it is usually either to rest my back or clear a speed bump etc....don't want a broken peg at that point.
It's a funny market here as there are restrictions on what bikes riders can buy depending on their class of licence so flipping in the LAMs zone has a larger pool of new riders ( two of the flips went to girls ). It also means there is a smaller pool of potential buyers for things like the VRF800 which I covet but my back will not tolerate due to lean forward angle- 120 lb heavier than the CB500F.....there is one around
Minor consideration is fuel mileage. Hard to beat the CB500s for miserly. 68 mpg vs 50ish for the VFR and who rides a VFR with a light hand on the throttle which drops it into 40ish.
Also cost of service on a V4 has to be higher than the bulletproof 500 twin.
So I leave my current ride up for sale with a hefty premium and see who bites.
