8 month old Macbook Air.

water got spilled on it. Now the screen slightly flickers and funny dark spots at bottom of screen.

keyboard is ok.

How much to repair something like this? Is it even worth it?

Please don't suggest going to Apple store, those guys are crooks.

I doubt it makes sense to fix .... spills usually can never be fixed permanently (because you can never determine 100% where the liquid spread and what did it damage). You will be just pissing money away. Call it a a bad luck and replace it.

Actually considered this program! Problem is.... they want a "working" MacBook. Otherwise I would have traded her in a heartbeat. I have no problem supporting and using all the platforms. Each has its strength and weaknesses. Well except for iOS, worst platform I've ever used, but thats for another thread.

Was very close to ditching the Macbook and picking up a $300 Google Chromebook, if you've never tried one, they are seriously impressive laptops for the price and what they do.

End of the day, just got the Macbook repaired. $450 to replace the the control/graphics board (or whatever its called) that controls the display. The thing is less than a year old and latest spec and paid large for it. Just couldn't toss it.

Note to self : don't let kids near your laptop with a glass of water. lesson learned.

Good to know, in case I needed. I had a power supply go in 6 years old iMac ... once I found out how much money a shop would have asked me I managed to get the part and fix it myself. Your scenario though would be more complicated to obtain a part for. I think they just get it from another iMac dead from other causes ....
