Alright so i have a question about getting the m1 switched to the m2 its probably pretty stupid but i just have no clue since i didn't really pay attention to any of it (:

but anyways my m1 became effective on may 26th and i did a safty course on june 24th can i bring i the envople since its been 60 days since my m1 has been effective or do i have to wait 60 days since ive done the course?

Thanks for the quick replys wasn't to sure there! didn't want to drive that far for nothing but now ima head out and upgrade

Time to start looking for a bike...even though the season is almost over =(

This isn't helpful to you, but for any other new riders reading this. You can do your M2 exit course at any time after you get your M1, even the next day. You will get your graduation papers from the course, but you will have had to wait until 60 days after you got the M1 to go to the ministry and file for the M2 license.

Hi guys,

Don't mean to thread hijack.. but I feel I have a relevant question associated with this thread. if I write my m1.. do I do an m1 exit then do a motorcycle riding course like learning curves to get my m2 (or do the mto m2 road test)? or do i just do m1 written, then do the learning curves course (m2) and get my m2 after the 60 days with the letter/paper?

In short is it like this? m1 written -> m1 exit (are there any courses for this?) -> learning curves (m2) -> wait for 60 days -> get m2 -> m2 exit test? -> m license

Also, when do I really need to buy a motorcycle (m1, before my m2, when i have my m2?)... I don't exactly have cash to buy a bike right now but I want to get started on an m license.

I read the mto website but it's a bit confusing for me so I hope someone can shed some light for me.

First things first, You do not need any sort of license to buy a motorcycle. However in order to get it plated you will need insurance for which you need at least an M1.

When it comes to the license all you need to do is 1) Get your M1 .. 2) Do a course like learning curves which includes the M1 exit test 3) Wait until 60 days have passed since you passed your M1 test and go get your M2.

From personal experience the Learning Curves crew are great!

As long as you pass the test during ( which 99% do) and as long as 60 days since your M1 have passed yes. You will get an envelope with all the paperwork which you must not open. You take that in to MTO after the 60 day mark and you`re good to go.

Great! thanks for your help! I'll just start on that for now..

1) m1 written test at mto. if you pass you can book a course for the m2 at a school
2) motorcycle school course, you do the m1 exit to get your m2 there on a closed course
3) if you passed you take your m2 papers from the school to the mto on the 60th day after you passed the m1 in step 1
then you will have your m2 and can ride the roads/highways and do everything else (except drink alcohol)

Your M2 is good for 5 years, and if you plan to ride beyond that, you must take the full M road test. That test can be taken through a school, or the mto, but you must wait 22 months after you got your m2 before you can take it. You can shorten it to 18 months if you take a further course at one of the schools.
