M1 riding with passenger fine and outcome?

I'm the smart one that took my girl around the block 5 days before my M2 kicked in and of course I have an encounter with a traffic violation cop.
I received a ticket and he told me to try my luck in court.

question... What are your thoughts on the outcome if I try to fight it? How screwed am I with insurance? Is it only the $110 ticket or are there points?

dumbass I know but any advice would be appreciated.

I believe your drivers license, all classes, will be suspended for violating that condition of licensing. I don't believe there are any demerit points for that offense, just suspension & fine, which will affect your insurance rate, significantly.

Promac is correct. This charge can potentially result in license suspension, which will affect your insurance. Had you already qualified for your M2 and just hadn't received it yet?

Yes I already did the course have the envelope with the m2 with only a week to go!
Since it was a traffic enforcement cop everything is recorded. He said if it was any other cop in the city might of let me go considering i was a 1 minute ride from home just bad luck he was traffic enforcement and he couldn't let it go.

Check the date on the ticket - sometimes officer will write prior month in error. You might want to contact Forch at Redline to see if there's anything he can for you, like agreeing to some less serious offence.

Unfortunately the ticket looks to be clear and accurate.
Promac- wouldn't the officer tell me if my licence was suspended or is it only after conviction?
I hear redline is the best way to go over x-copper and OTT is this true?

no the officer wouldn't tell you your licence has been suspended as it is only suspended upon conviction. Unlike stunt driving or alcohol related offences where the suspension is automatic and immediate.

DO NOT GO WITH EX COPPER
Have seen these guys in Court, they just plead to lesser and leave as soon as possible.

Forch from Redline however fights tooth and nail for you. Got me off a ticket after some complications and 3 trials later and an affadavit. Was still very pleased with the process and of course, the outcome.

So I am going with Forch as everyone here has recomended I spoke with him yesterday and submitted all the info. It's in his hands now which I feel comfortable and hopeful of a promising resolution. Still what a silly costly, amateur mistake! be warned people you can can caught anywhere, anytime take it from me I have a deep regret of not having patience for a week... lesson learned

This really sucks to hear and I'm glad to see you learned. It was one week. If you lived in the sticks maybe.... but in the city? The risk to me doing anything there you shouldn't be is never worth it. I hope you get a positive outcome. Good luck

Good luck, Trenton. I hope everything works out! I appreciate your humility. So rare to see that, especially on this forum.

If you wanna check run an abstract at one of the MTO kiosks.

I thought this was an automatic suspension.

Automatic suspension upon conviction

No such thing as an MTO Kiosk anymore they were hacked last spring and taken offline in May 2012. They MTO stated it would be "too costly to secure them" against this type of attack. Therefore they were taken offline in June 2012 never to return.

As stated the "automatic suspension" commences upon conviction.

Suspension would suck as insurance companies just love that word.
Would it be 30 days?

Happened to a friend of mine 2 years ago his insurance company was going to drop him, luckily he went through someone like xcopper or points not sure who but they where able to get them to change his charge to something else. He paid a lot more in fines but in the long it was cheaper. Hope things work out for you but they are super strict to M1 riders cause you're considered high risk.

It's also not an automatic suspension, upon conviction, just an extremely likely one. This is 'in practice', not 'in theory.'
