M test - do you need registration and insurance papers?

Today I made an impulsive decision and went online, signed up for the full M road test (two days from now). Since I have only a track bike, I just borrowed a street bike from a friend, but I forgot to get his registration and insurance papers. Do you know if they ask for those at the test center?

They've never asked me for my papers for any of my G or my M2exit test. But, if they do ask, you're kinda screwed with no insurance or registration (or if you get pulled over for w/e reason)

AFAIK you could even get him to email/fax a copy of the ownership and that's fine, but riding without an insurance company provided proof of policy card is a ticket.

No, you don't need those papers...they only ask for your license plate #.

The real question is, how did you get a date within two days??

Easy ;) As I was watching TV, out of the blue I decided I need to get my M license before it's too late. Got online, entered my info, chose Burlington (that's where I've had my G license many years ago), and it showed "next avail date 24/07/2013". I clicked "show next date", and it was in mid August, so I guess there was just that single 8:30am appointment, maybe somebody cancelled and I got lucky.

Question: well, I don't have a street bike right now, hence no insurance of my own. Legally speaking, am I allowed to even ride the bike on the street (my buddy, the owner, has insurance). That said, I rode around Burlington last night just to get used to the bike, and next time I get it out will be for the test.

yea, you're covered under his insurance, that also means if anything does happen it will go against his claims record.

Thanks, good to know. Well, I'll sound really stupid if I were to say I'm not gonna be getting into an accident. So, I better be careful, and if something happens, I'll make sure his expenses are completely covered, short and long term. Apart from that, I'd actually assume that my car insurance should be covering at least body injuries, or maybe even damages to other vehicles (if I'm at fault). Anyway---I got the answers I needed, thank you all. The rest---hope I don't have to find out the hard way ;) Cheers!

Please keep a mental note of the route they make you take. I need to take my M in the next year or so too.

Will do! I might need it too later on when I'll probably need to re-take the test, if you know what I'm saying ;)

You have to be an absolute retard to fail that test. Keep turning your head at every intersection you come across, good luck.

So, let me see if I got it right: in order to not be an absolute retard, I need to act like an absolute retard and turn my head like a one-eyed pirate?

Pretty much. Have you brushed up on your street riding skills?

I did a 50 km ride yesterday. Practiced keeping the limit, mirrors, shoulder checks, putting foot on the ground, bike distance from stopped cars, etc. Haven't been on the street for a while, but it all came back pretty quickly. One thing I struggled with was the directionals---since I started going to the track, I completely forgot I need to signal, lol!

Passed it :) A miracle, considering I was probably going quite fast through the right-hand entrance to the highway at Guelph. Don't know the exact speed, but it must have been fast because I realized I'm hanging off just like when I'm in Turn 1 at TMP, and pretty low to the ground too! The guy was really cool though!

Here's the route: http://goo.gl/maps/4g4KK

On a side note---I verified that I do not miss riding on the street, it's so damn boring, so yeah, i don't think I'm buying a street bike soon or ever.
