lubricating gear shifter pedal and clutch handle

You could, but a thinner lube that can get into the small crevices easier would be better. Chain lube is a bit messy too.

I'd take them apart and put some bearing grease on the pivots, will last longer than chain lube. Barring that, nothing wrong with chain lube. I keep a can of Liquid Wrench chain lube around just for random grease jobs, it's better at that than being a chain lube.

You mean axle sticks?

OP: Any spray lube will do the trick.. I'd follow it up with gear oil so it trickles down into the pivot point and stays on longer. Decent grease will do the trick if you feel like taking things apart.

When I'm feeling lazy - my dad has an old squeeze pump can thing that's usually filled with scrap oil, i.e. leftover oil from oil changes, fork oil (from us kids), etc... just squirt that on there and things are good. When I have time - Take the thing apart and use lithium grease on it (usually what is specified by manufacturers) as it better resists being washed away by rain and stuff.

You can use basically anything, just not spray kerosene aka WD40

Yeah I tried chain lube, it helped a bit but it still squeaks sometimes. What gear oil would you recommend? Should I remove the gear shifter to apply it? or could I just spray it. I a m not sure how to remove the shifter.

Use what you got. I use Ipone Box 2 for applications where using a gear oil is ok

But that's mostly because of its temperature range and the fact that I use it on my guns - doesn't cook off when I do lots of shooting, doesn't gunk up when I should be staying indoors instead of shooting  For a shifter, just about any gear oil will do the trick as long as it's thin enough to trickle down where it needs to be. You can probably even get away with using motor oil but it won't last as long before it runs off
