Looking forward to my second season riding...

As a late starter to riding motorcycles I am very much looking forward to the spring and taking my bike out of the garage!!! In the meantime I just stumbled on this site and signed up. Hope to learn alittle, connect with other riders and chat about the my new favorite sport.

I only did my M2 late in 2011 but picked up my bike in the middle of 2012. Had a great time last year on my Triumph Speed Triple and plan to learn more this season, maybe do a couple of organised street meets/rides and perhaps the FAST course at Shannonville just to learn/experience some track stuff for fun. Last year I only did a few thousand kilometers riding solo as I wanted to get a feel for the bike, my comfort level and just take it at my own speed... (under 120kph with both wheels firmly attached to the road!)

Went to the motorcycle show last weekend and smiled all day with my little guy hopping on just about every bike (he may have caught the bug early!! At 4 he has his eye on a PW50 already!). May look at getting a trail bike too and see if I like that also as I had fun on my course which had a small trail component... more of a teaser really!

Anyways, advice or tips welcome... If you ride a Speed Triple I would be very keen to chat with you...

All the best for the New Year and a safe riding season ahead!

Cheers

Welcome to the site and play safe. Very nice machine. Unfortunately I can't render riding advice as I do everything by reflex and muscle memory. Enjoy!

Welcome. I am in a similar situation. Got my M many years ago but did not ride since. Have been on a vespa for the last eight years and finally decided to move up last fall. Kids are just old enough that I might be able to get a couple of hours here and there:)

This is great souce of info and friendly support.

Sounds familiar. Got my M1 in July of 2011, and put 13,000 kms under my tires since then. Kids are old enough (high school and college).
I live 5 minutes from work, but can make it home in an hour....

Thanks guys! I am sure that I'm going to learn lots here in terms of both riding and motorcycling generally! Equipment, places to buy stuff or just good roads to ride on! I've noticed there are not many twisty bendies around the GTA (unlike England where I'm from). I can really relate to the long rides home after work... My journeys home to the burbs have become much longer on the bike... I explore more and just ride... What fun!

Thanks for the bike comments... I love my machine! What do you guys ride?

Lots of great roads, you just have to get out of the city to find them. :)
Forks of the Credit is fairly close by.
Niagara region has some wonderful roads as well.

(My bikes are in my sig.)

Yes, the Forks of the Credit and especially around the Belfountain area. The locals love the tourists there but for gosh sakes make sure the bike has a bit of a rumble to it. Don't want to get run over by a deaf senior. 2013 Bonneville on order.

I just google mapped Belfontain and the roads look pretty twisty there! Its now on my list! Thanks for the link. Its maybe only 15 minutes from where I live so that's awesome! Thanks for the link! Bonnevilles are great bikes bro. I was tempted to get one myself (likely will do down the road!) You get it from GP or Sturgess... There's also Ride in Toronto I guess. I got my Speedy at GP and found them to be awesome on advice, price and service. Downside is they are the furthest from my home! I know they are selling stuff but I find GP very welcoming and helpful. The guy who sold me my bike has invited me up to a track day so will likely do that this year just to experience how it all works!

!5 minutes away? Everything will be up to temps and ready to rip when you get there. Son is bringing up from States. I've been riding his ever evolving fleet for years. See you out there!!

P.S. good to know about GP

Welcome!!
