looking for rain gear

Well my old suit finally gave up the ghost, it doesn't owe me anything, I've had it for almost 30 years! Believe it or not, I bought it for $20? at a Tractor Supply Company store. Anyhow, it's seen better days and needs replacing. I'm looking for a 2 piece suit that is easy to put on and take off. Must have 3/4 length jacket, hood not required. I've been looking around and the pricing seams to be all over the place. I've heard a couple of people recommend Frogg Toggs, but the pair I saw look pretty light and cheap. Any recommendations or words of wisdom? Thanks

Amazon.
Buddy bought HWK and is happy.
I bought a suit that was $10 more than hwk, because it has a sweat liner. Haven't used it yet, and hope I don't have to.

Like marine equipment, motorcycle-specific rain gear has a highly unrealistic premium attached to it.

I used to buy rain gear from motorcycle gear manufacturers, but I found out that waterproof windbreakers and bicycling gear do essentially the same job and is often less than half the price.

For me, rain gear is a wear item that I have to refresh every couple of seasons because I don't own a car and ride all year round regardless of weather conditions. So this is something I don't want to be over-spending on if I don't have to.

MEC used to sell a "Drencher" line of cycling jackets, pants and three-digit over-gloves which were virtually identical to gear from the motorcycle brands. The over-gloves were exactly the same as Aerostich Triple Digit gloves, but at a third of the cost. Longevity is about the same as motorcycle-branded rain gear as well.

The biggest caveat when buying non-motorcycle rain gear for bike user is to make sure that it's breathable, so sweat doesn't pool inside and that the material is thick enough that it doesn't shred at highway speeds and doesn't flap around too much when riding.

Recently, did a mototrip but forgot my rain gear at home. Bought the Quechua brand of windbreaker and waterproof pants for less than $50 total for both at a local Decathlon. Still use it all the time.

Gryphon Motorcycle Rain Gear

Haven't had opportunity to use it yet, but it looks pretty good.
I've used mine many times, including this past weekend. So far seems to be holding up well.

They are coming out with a new suit next year that will have a hood.

I bought a $10 colman poncho from walmart. Worked ok, used it under my leather jacket so it didn't flap around. But kept me dry.

New gear came with a rain jacket.

FYI

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I pulled the trigger on Gary's suggestion and ordered the HWK. I figure for $70 it's worth a shot. I'm in agreement with Lightcycle, I consider raingear a wearable item that has to be replaced every couple of years and I can't see spending big dollars on something you know isn't going to last.

I bought something similar to that HWK stuff (maybe even the same) and the jacket fit fine but the pants were huge ... returned it. They need to allow a mix and match option.

I'm an XL (fat old guy) after reading some of the reviews, it was suggested to order 1 size up. I ordered XXL, I'll report back on the fit next week.

Sorry for the delayed update. I received my HWK rain suit and I have to say I'm impressed. I normally wear an XL, but after reading the reviews, I opted for an XXL. Fits great, not too tight. not too loose. I purposely went out for a ride in the rain today through the Halton escarpment area and I'm happy to say I was dry for the most part when I got home. I was out for an hour and half or so and it poured! The only area that got wet was the top of my boots. The pants don't have a strap (stirrup?) to stop them from raising upwards while riding, they rely on an elastic. I found a pair of straps that can be clipped on to the bottom of the pants and I think this will cure the problem. So for $70 I think I got a pretty good deal.
