Looking for Rain Gear suggestions

Just rode through 3 hours of rain wearing a Frogg Toggs rain suit and one leg was soaked and my waitsline as well. Not sure why the leg was soaked but the waistline was probally becasue I didn't pull the pants up high enough and the jacket came up when I rode. Either way I need something better, does anyone have any reccomendations for a reasonably priced rain suit.

http://www.pannonsports.com/ is where i got mine, bring your leather jacket to make sure it fits over it. I got a rain jacket and pants for $75. He might still have the sale on.

Cheers

I love my frogg toggs, have kept me dry through everything I have been through it with, and I ride every day rain or shine. I wouldnt buy anything but frogg toggs, they breath and dont turn you into a sweat box when wearing it over your gear.

Sounds like you have a tear or a rip somewhere in the pants if they are leaving you that wet.

I agree Frogg Toggs are great, and they pack up nice and small, light weight, and dont look too bad.

Do you have the motorcycle frogg toggs or the regular ones? Difference in quality.

Personally, I ride in a gore-tex suit everyday so I never have to worry about putting on a suit - it's always waterproof. Rode in temps over 40c without issue (apart from sweating).

I use a bright blue rain jacket from Eddie Bauer and black MEC rain pants. Light weight and fit under my seat. Pack up smaller than Frog Toggs.

Also you might want to check out Velocity, they now carry one peice rain suits with a visibility strip on them.

I used to wear waterproof gear, but stopped that as they dont breath well. I would rather through over rain gear when I need it, then having a jacket that is trying to be good for everything, which they never are.

No matter how good the gear if you don't pay attention to the seals ( neck and waist ) you'll get wet inside.
Got realllllllllly soggy even tho I knew my gear was okay- was in too big a rush and did not seal the neck and front properly.

If your helmet has room gear with a thin hood keeps your neck warm and dry.

I used to have Dri Ducks which is a lighter version of Road Toads / Frogg Toggs and it stayed nice and dry until the sleeves shredded at highway speed.

Then I got Road Toads and my legs were always soaking wet. REASON? Road Toads have pant pockets and Dri Ducks does not. SOLUTION? Glue Road Toads pockets shut and the rain suit is fine.

I have the Frogg Toggs Road Toad suit and on my trip down east I found that after an hour or so in medium rain or as soon as 10 minutes in heavy rain I would start to get leaks. In particular the crotch would soak through. I also found that the cuffs take forever to dry. I tried the Dri Ducks as well but found it too light for motorcycle use, and the cuffs don't seal so you get leaks.

I just picked up a Joe Rocket Trench rain suit on closeout from Motorcyclegear.com and have been pretty happy with it so far, though that has only been light commuting use.

Royal has a Teknic over suit for $50 and change... Makes you look like an evil fire fighter lol

I have a Teknic rain suit , it is completely waterproof and very well made BUT..it's pretty heavy and I can't pack it down too small. I'm looking for a light rainsuit that can cope with highway speeds.

I was doing like 180 in my teknic and it did fine... I do agree with your comment about size, you definetly need a back pack for it!

I've had the same experience. I think part of it is understanding the design of the suit - it's water *repellent* not water *proof*. Basically, it prevents moisture from soaking in - and relies on road wind to flip that off as soon as it hits. I've had the crotch issue because it puddled there. After the first time, i made a point of... uh... clearing the crotch puddle. Ahem.

Anyway - if you want a breathable material, it's *never* going to be water proof. You could encase yourself in a rubber suit, and you wouldn't get wet from outside, but it would be distinctly uncomfortable inside.

The iCon is fully waterproof and packs down very well. My first choice these days. Good seals.
man is it visible

Following Icon’s mission to create real riding gear that doesn’t suck, Icon gives you the PDX line. Birthed in the rain soaked laboratories of Portland, Oregon the PDX is Icon’s answer to Mother Nature’s fury. The pattern of the rip-stop waterproof shell is cut full to fit over your normal riding gear. The unique roll-up hood seals against the neck during your ride, then unfurls to cover your helmet hair when you arrive at your destination. A couple of well placed pockets, complete seam sealing, reflective graphics and wind flap elimination straps complete the program. The PDX, keeps you dry while keeping you ‘fresh"

It rolls into it's hood so very small and designed to go over gear - the hood /neck muff is great and very good seals.
