Howdy Folks,

Currently work for a company and manage Canadian operations. Great job, great team. But my taxes are insane and I am hoping there is something that can be done.
Looking for 100% legal and above board advice on how I can potentially gain some tax breaks either through the business or personally. As I don't really know where to start I'd thought I would ask, as I am sure others have looked into this.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

It's a good idea to get professional advice but low hanging fruit that may work are things like vehicle allowance and company paying your internet/cell phone bill. If you can/want to be a subcontractor, the list of options for tax efficiency grows very long.

Easy ones , home office exemptions. Get paid car mileage , then it’s an expense . RESp if you have kids , RRSP for you , income splitting with spousal unit? Have them provide a cell , for your whole family, have the company pay a country club membership. Rent a cottage every yr for a team building excercise , they come for 2 day , you stay 10 with family.

The truth is once your into the 53% club there is tax avoidance ( deferred) not really tax relief .

Speak with an actual CA , not a book keeper and even then one that is a tax specialist. I don’t know the scope of the company your with but publicly traded they can issues share options? Tax lawyers are also a thing if there is enough money involved.
I have previously paid $150 an hour to talk to a CA and a tax lawyer is $300. It’s money well spent.
