so im looking at the 02 f4i as a second bike. i rode a ninja 250 and now im craving a 600 cc. i found this guy whos selling his for 3 grand. and im seeing it tomorrow. he says the only thing that needs to be changed are his bald tires. its got 25 thousand k's on it. thats all i know so far... so what should i be looking for when i see it since im an emature

also. i got quoted at 8 grand for insurance. so if i cant find anythign cheeper ill just store the bike for this season and wait till next year when my speeding ticket will go away off my record. any advice on innsurance companies?

thanks guyz:)

hahahaha salt!!! im gonna be 24 in sep. and when i had my 250 i paid 1600 a year. which was 2 seasons ago. i think i just need to shop around. and wise or not. i want a sports bike.

Check out the cam chain tensioner on it. All CBR's have a problem with the automatic cct malfunctioning. Should sound like a loud rattle. Easily replaceable. Other than that, solid bike.

this.

Also, how many f'ing tickets do you have on record? I know a dude who was borderline facility and he was under 5 grand on a zx6r...

Just a quick question, how much are you willing to pay to insure a sports bike @ your age?

It's not the tickets man, he's under 25, the f4i is considered an SS... I have two tickets and I'm still paying 1800/yr with fire and theft.

You can shop around from now until monkeys can fly, I guarantee you won't be able to find a decent quote.
If you really want a 600, there are other alternatives (SV650, Ninja 650R, etc... )

first. im a girl. second. i have two speeding tickets and one failed sign ticket. both speeding tickets will get off my record next july. im gonna be 24 in sep. and i had a non at fault accident with my 250. some fagget reversed into my parked bike when i was at the bank. i did a quote online. so maybe if i do it by phone or in person itll b cheaper. and im willing to pay 3500 a year.

also! the only other alternative i have is an R6. i wont go for anythin else.... maybe maybe a kawi... but an r6 would b ideal

8 grand? holy shyte..

sorry dudette....

Good luck with your purchase in any case...I like the f4i's...I think it's a well balanced bike..

Statefarm tends to be kind to riders if you pay for another product...

I apologize mademoiselle, still... I highly doubt that you could insure one for that kind of money, even if it's liability only.
I am 25 and Jevco quoted me 4500/year on a 2006 GSX-R 750, luckily I was able to get insurance with SF.
Take a look under the insurance section and you will find a lot of useful information. You will get an idea of what others are paying and where you stand in terms of **affordable** insurance.

Best of luck.
P.S. You're buying the bike for the $3k and you're willing to pay up to 3500$ for insurance?... :dontknow:

thanks guys!

and yes. i never said i had reason. just want to ride. wish me luckkkk.

Excited to sit on it in your garage? Wait it over, there's better deals in the winter.

in the last few years, not really...

Besides 3k for an f4i isn't exactly a bad deal if you ask me.

good bike, I had one and it had 80k on the odometer when I sold it. -1 on the front sprocket is a good mod.
As has been said, the cam chain tensioner is the weak point on this bike. Replacing it with a manual one is a pita, but shouldn't cost more than a couple hundred.
