Look for direction on signage

Hey guys,

I'm looking for the laws that pertain to sign placement on streets? In particular, the no standing signs and how far out from the sign they can extend.
ie:

NO STANDING
< >

I imagine that the sign has some sort of distance/reach.

It's a little confusing, but hopefully you get what I mean. I tried checking
[h=1]Signs, RRO 1990, Reg 615, but that seems to be more about regulations ON signs & how they're supposed to look.[/h]

Is the sign you are referring to the centre sign in a set of three put there because there was too much distance between the end two?

ie.

No Standing

Did you already get this ticket or are you investigating for the future? It is an interesting question if there is only one sign.

Centre sign. There wasn't a no standing with one arrow to begin the sequence, so it makes me wonder whether that's actually a legitimate ticket.

My car got towed/impounded but the closest "no standing sign" is far as hell. I've already chalked it up as a loss, but I'd like to know for the future. 'Cause the guy was making it seem like that sign would apply for all of adelaide, which would be ridiculous if that were the case.

was there a bus stop near by?

What is the difference between parking, standing and stopping regulations?
The rules associated with each parking regulation are listed in order of least to most restrictive:
no_parking_63.gif
No Parking - motorists are only permitted to load or unload passengers or merchandise.
no_standing_63.gif
No Standing - motorists are only permitted to receive and discharge passengers. Typically used in the area of TTC bus stops.
no_stopping_63.gif
No Stopping - motorists are generally not permitted to stop for any reason except to avoid a conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a constable or other police officer or of a traffic control sign or signal.

HTA says: “stand” or “standing”, when prohibited, means the halting of a vehicle, whether occupied or not, except for the purpose of and while actually engaged in receiving or discharging passengers; (“immobilisation”)

Busy street like Adelaide, I can see this applying to the whole street, and only in sections where parking/stopping is allowed, will the signage be different.

No bus stop anywhere close. The no standing only takes effect after 2am (I'd imagine to make space for cabbies & cops). Most parking laws are fairly straightforward: I would be surprised if they could arbitrarily make some signs apply for certain streets unless those streets were specifically named in the statute.

But that's exactly why I'm wondering...I'd like to see the law saying that busy streets can put a sign like that and make it open-ended, without the appropriate opening and closing arrows. I'd really be interested to see if no parking signs can have open/close arrows while no standing can apply for a whole street.

In the interest of full disclosure: I don't care to get my money back... I'd just like to know if I parked legitimately so I can avoid the whole hassle in the future. I learned my lesson last year when my bike got towed on Front, so I was honestly shocked when it happened again - especially since I learned to pay really close attention to signs.

Usually if the sign has a double arrow and there are no one arrow signs around, that means from intersection to intersection.
