Maybe Jeremy Lin is getting too much hype, but I can't believe how good this guy is playing. Last night against Raps was amazing. Going from almost being cut to this.

I can't believe the Raps blew a 17 point lead and choked in the dying seconds..man..what exactly is the infection that causes all sports teams in Toronto to suck ***??

He's making news because he's the first Taiwanese American in the NBA as far as I know. And he's doing well for now. Not the next Michael Jordan but he's newsworthy for the time being.

Like that quarterback that came from the indoor league to win the Superbowl. Does anyone remember him?

Aside from the glorious facts about Lin... but the Raptors... they are truely pathetic... absolutely hopeless!! They were tied in the end last night, but wat do they do??! gave the ball to lin and let him take a niiiiiiiccee firm 3 pt... 3 PT!!! not even a normal 2 pt shot!! Fck Raptors weakass team!

He has a Kurt Warner type story. From a 10 game contract to playing like an MVP. That's why there is so much hype IMO. Being oriental helps void the spot where Yao Ming left when he retired.

Because people still pay "above" premium price's to watch their teams fail season after season......
I can go to a Sabers game for a 1/3rd of the price of TML......... WTF!

Status quo will remain so long as corporations own the local teams and the 20,000 idiots line up to pay top $ to watch sub par teams. The goal is making money, not winning titles.

You know, I partially believe that. But..I can't believe guys like Colangelo and Burke are happy losing. I just can't believe it! It's like everyone that comes to these teams gets infected with I'm-The-**** Disease and start ****ing the dog or each other.. I just don't get it. What a steaming pile of dog **** our teams are..

Also the fact that he went undrafted, was cut by 2 teams and came from the basketball mecca of Harvard adds to the media story. He is playing well so far but needs to stop the turnovers (30 in his first handfull of games).

Yep, and now he has a job on tv so hes still in the football world. (side note...He has one of the ugliest sports wives in the game though)

Do ppl still watch sports on TV??
Pfffff

Lin is also a hardcore Christian which the media seems to love (see Tebow)

You really need a person owning a pro team. Look at Mike Itich for instance. The Red Wings have been incredible for 20 years, and the Tigers are back to their winning ways. Only a rich old man who will do anything it takes to win throws $214 million at Prince Feilder. He's trying to win a World Series, this year. The man is 82 and knows he only has a a couple years left on this earth so who cares. A board of directors can never do that. Itich's business is casinos and pizza not sports franchise. I really feel the same about Eugene Melnyk. He has stated in the past the Senators need to make the second round of the play offs to turn any kind of profit, but when you hear him in interviews it's all about winning for him

I don't disagree entirely..but with the cap in hockey, you can't blow tons of dough to buy talent anymore. So money isn't the sole reason. There is some other reason..poor scouting, poor player development, poor coaching..maybe it's just mindset. The players don't give a crap because there's no owner leading the team. I have to believe that Brian Burke wants to win. Maybe MLSE doesn't..but I'm sure he does. I don't believe ownership meddles with Burke..I think he is free to do what he wants. Same with Colangelo..and yet..they suck. It's like festering Toronto Pro Sports Disease.. Even TFC sucks ***!!!

Your right, the Leafs have about 1 million in cap space left this year where the Sens have 12 million (but we're suppose to be rebuilding). The Raptors can't convince anyone decent to play here and TFC, well...that's just a bloody mess with no end in sight. I guess I'm more upset at the Toronto fans for showing up to these games. Your only protest is at the gate. If the seats were empty changes would come sooner.

I agree. I mean, they brought Colangelo in, what, 5 years ago? Now I don't know much about basketball..but 5 years..surely they should be better than nearly dead last after that "rebuilding" period?? I hear a lot of hockey players don't want to come here because of the crap they'd have to put up with. Just awful..

The issue with the Raptors - it's not a WINNING culture. Like some of you guys have alluded to already. We get players here that get FAT contracts, and aren't expected to perform (like Turk..). Prima Donna's that think they're owed something.

In my opinion, the CULTURE needs to change before we can have any success. I think coach Casey is a step in the right direction, but fire Collangelo and his whole squad - they've proven that their scheme of bringing in white, Euro players is not the recipe for success. And they're doing it AGAIN with this Valanciunas dude. It didn't work with Barney, or Calderon, or any of the other two bit euro Whitey's...
