License plate

Anyone know how to transfer a plate to someone else or is it even possible?
personalized or generic?

i don't believe personalized plates are transferable.

YoM plates can be transferred. You can transfer any plate to a family member. I don't think you can sell normal plate numbers anymore.
That is what I am reading that it has to be a family member. Did this change recently because some old documents still come up for plate transfer. I will have to see what my ladies say at service ont. 😉

I'm thinking it changed a few decades ago.

What's so cool about this old plate?

There is potentially a way around the prohibition but it's expensive. Roughly, you surrender the plate and the buyer buys that plate as a custom plate as it became available again after surrender (not sure how long it takes between surrender and being back in the pool). I was going to do something similar to keep my old plate number. The plates had rusted away but they were the plates I've used since the 90's. Only way to do that was to surrender then SO and buy them as a custom plate with the same number.

Interesting.
Nothing cool about the plate except that it is old and came with the bike. My feeling is that it belongs to the bike and should remain so. Sticking a new plate on a 30+ year old bike is wrong! I ran out of old plates personally so now if the seller is willing to let it go I take it.

You don't own the plate, the province does.
There is a path to get the plate registered to you IF it isn't currently registered, it is dealt with in the personalized plate program. I THINK the plate has to have a year on it.
You can register a plate with no vehicle assigned to it.

Found this in B's garage behind an old Ford. I think i know who owned it. Would be cool to put it on the Ural. Lol
