So a bit poor now-a-days...

wondering if there are any options besides bell/rogers/cogoco for basic cable + internet?

I don't watch a lot of TV, but will be working a lot from home from time to time, so internet is important to me.

Should I just call up Rogers/Bell..etc to see what rates they come up with?

Bell's having some kind of promotion for that right now. But let me give you some better advice. Ditch the tv, and pick up a hobby.

I have TONS of hobbies...and I am looking forward to the 'honey do list' as well.....I want TV when want to relax...company over etc.

INTERNET....need to do work during off hours sometimes....

Oh, internet is a MUST. I never said anything about that.
I just don't watch TV, so encourage others not too either.

Bell still has the promotion, I bet.

Best thing to do is scour through all of the deals offered and start playing them off each other, if you have the time. For example, find Bell's best deal, call Rogers and tell them what Bell's offering and see if they'll beat it. After you get Rogers best deal, call Bell and see if they'll beat that. Make sure you mention exactly what you were offered and from who. When mentioning their competitors names, it'll trigger promotions that the CSR will offer you. Don't be afraid to just keep asking, hanging up, and calling the competition back. Might take you a few hours but could save you a couple hundred a year on your services. If one matches the other but won't beat it, ask if they'll throw in a free PVR for a year. Never hurts to ask.

Thank you for the TIPS!!!!

Teksavvy plus videocluster.net - i pay something like 28 bucks a month and have great internet and all the tv and movies i can watch. just make sure you are able to hook your computer up to your tv via hdmi or dvi

I'm not sure if this is still the case, but some time ago, if you got internet via cable, you got basic analogue cable for 'free'.

He used to have a hobby when he didn't have a GF, now he needs something he can enjoy with his GF :D

I have the teksavvy 15M service and it is amazing. For cable I have an antenna on my HDTV it works pretty good, I also use torrents etc to get other TV service as the teksavvy service is unlimitted
