Looking at new tires for the AT, Been seeing a few riders on the net running Dunlop trailmax missions. Anyone with real time on these? Most reviews on YT are saying really good things

Those are my next tires for the GS. I know a lot of people that run them, good mix for pavement mainly and some gravel roads. Not really 50/50, I'd consider them 70/30.

Longevity is one thing they say, some are saying 20thousand k's on a set

I find longevity and grip to be opposite ends of the spectrum. Had a set of Hiedenau K60s, good for gravel, and the rear lasted 18K (well, closer to 15K, the lugs were slicks by 18K). But if the pavement was wet, you're basically sliding around like your tires were made of plastic.

They the were the ADV tires du jour awhile back. Then, after that, the Mitas E07s had their day in the sun and now it's the Trailmax.

Put on Anakee Wilds on the GS. Amazing grip in the dirt, but the rear was toast at 5K. Not doing that again...

I'm thinking trailmax will be the right choice.

Two sets of Avon TrailRider rv54 on my Tenere. Great tires.

I had the trailmax missions on my ktm 790 adv, would buy again. Whether they are a good choice for you depends on what kind of riding you will do.

My rides will be 60/40 pavement and dirt roads. I'm not a drag a knee type of rider so I'm looking for longevity in a tire.

Tires were hard to come by early 2020, I han no choice but to settle for Shinkos 705s for the DL.

Pleasantly surprised so far. My dirt is 95% dirt logging/mining/fire roads - I'm not pounding single tracks on a bike weighing 500+lbs.

I have had great luck with trail attack 2 and will be using the 3 when they are needed next.

K60s held up very well both in Canada and Australia ...exciting on the KLR when wet but very long lived.

Switched to E-07s in Australia and they handled the wet better than the Heidi's yet decent traction off pavement.
Sold the bike before they wore out.

Trying to decide on next boots for the CB300F. Looking for long wearing street tires - as much as I'd like to do some off pavement the CB300F is just so wrong for that ....even rough washboard the bike becomes unmanageable at anything above a walking speed. Shocks mostly and bit of tires. I cannot stand on the bike which doesn't help.
Decided not to pursue even tho it limits my options for riding places,

I suppose if I found a decent 70/30 I might give it a go again for the easy gravel roads. Problem also is finding much choice for the tire size.

Reviving this thread. Was very impressed with the Trailmax on the Vstrom 1050, two up, lots of gear...16,000 miles !!!

70/30 for the CB300F would be perfect but tough to find.
If I can sort a tire set maybe I can get the shocks sorted enough for mild washboard.
I miss doing some dirt :(

I had great luck with them on the KLR - definitely a 70/30 street tire but they lasted until I sold the bike.
AND they were quiet, some of the ADV tires sound like the snows on my old man's '66 Chevelle did.

I think Dunlop hit it out of the park with the Trailmax Missions. They are very smooth on pavement and I always felt confident with them on spirited rides on twisty roads, I wasn't quite dragging knees, but pretty close. They are also long lasting. Off pavement, I found them much better than my previous Avon Trailriders, not surprising considering the much bigger grooves. They are not great in sand or mud but since they're not knobbies no one should expect them to be. I think these are the best all around tires for an adventure bike, unless you do serious offroading in which case you need knobbies, or unless you never go off pavement in which case just get street tires. The only other tire I think comes close is the Motoz Tractionator GPS. There's also the K60 Heidenau but those are much older tires and the Dunlop was designed to outdo it so I can't imagine they'd be as good.

Yup - 606s on the KLR were so bad buddy was complaining and he was hearing them on our SENAs from my bike!!!

I had Heidi's on several bikes, wore like iron but a tad exciting in the wet.
I'm going to be riding this

around Japan for a few days in June. Looks like a street tire on it. Might scrath the off pavement itch tho.

Think it might be a stretch to convert the CB300F to off pavement...ergos are wrong for me. Would need handlebars and cable extensions, 70/30 tires and a better rear shock.
This guy did it
