LED License Plate Bolts from eBay - are they all the same?

Make sure you thread them in a way that you can remove the plate without having to cut the wires.

TBH these are pretty cheap items to buy in stores i paid $6 for mine at royal. So you aren't saving a fortune so i would go with a brand name one for quality. These ones from ebay could be hit or miss but if you do go this way they do as unoR said. BTW had mine on my bike for 2 years no issues.

+1 on the ones from royal. I bought mine a couple seasons ago to put on the 250 when I sold it. I didn't buy the bolt ones but they have an LED light with two sided 3M tape. I just adhered it to the undertail over the plate and his the wires up and inside the passenger seat. Looked great, lit up nice and the tape held on.
It was a good little addition. Needed to do it so the girl buying my bike didn't get any hassle at the safety.

Trying to find a link to them so you have an idea of what they look like

If you guys honestly believe that royal buys led bolts that are not made in China, then you guys are suckers for advertising. It will be the same product manufactured at the same plant in china with different packaging for various parts of the world. $6 at royal means they paid $0.50 for it.
Even if I wanted to get to a royal it's 250km from my house.

i ended up buyin them. $3 free shipping, let's see what happens. Good point on mounting in a way that doesn't require cutting the wire. I'll have to modify my plate holder after my fender eliminator mod is done.

For the price of the product you ordered I certainly hope you at least got 2 if not 3 sets, just in case......

and just to add to your point, just because it's made in China, that does not mean it's made the same for all products in the same way, items are made to the standards not of the manufacturing company but the one who is buying to resell.

I purchased a set of led blinkers from China, thin wires, misaligned plastics, crappy assembly, globs of glue from the glue gun and so on, but they did work.....and lasted about a season, then I purchased a set here locally, very similar in style and design, but the fit iand finish was better, the wires were thicker, and it was assembled well, not misaligned like the last set....

so there is a difference, but the cost was not that much more, so far they have lasted all season, and I am hopeful they will last another.....

.

here are some nice ones and not expensive.....maybe the cost of shipping is a deal breaker I don't know...

The ones that I bought off eBay were cheap ($ & quality). I don't have my bike on the road, so I can't comment on the longevity of the units.

The biggest hassle was the super thin wires coming from the units. It's a PITA to splice any kind of bullet connector to it. I tried using the smallest connector I could , but the wires from the lights were just way too small to crimp properly.

Some of the other units look like they have a black sheath (not heat shrink) over the same thin wires. Unless some lights have thicker wires, they are all shite in my opinion. Good idea, just not executed well.

Mind you they do look cool.

I solved that by folding the stripped wire back over the insulation and then crimping onto that.

You didn't have any problems with the conductor/insulator working its way out of the crimp? If not, I'd give it a try.

Nope, not much movement back there. Crimp it super tight just to be sure.

I will redo mine using this method.

Really good tip - thanks
