LED Accents?

Friends,

I purchased a Fusion million colour 6pc led accent kit for my 2002 R6. I'm not entirely sure if I should install it.
What are everyone's views on these things? I think it would look pretty sick but I don't know when or if I will ever use it.. lol.

bought it on a whim didn't really think too much about it.

EDIT: Has anyone done accent lighting to a bike similar to an R6? Any ideas on where/how to install? Pictures would be nice :D

Could look great if installed cleanly. Nothing worse then seeing leds hanging out. A soft glow with no visible leds normally looks pretty sweet though.

On a side note, were you trying to sell your bike a while back? Your picture looks like pics I remember from kijiji when I was looking back in January.

nope not me!, I just got my bike off Kijiji in October.

I installed some on my F4i (I picked up a 12pc blue kit from legglow for $100 shipped only used 8 strips so far) and my buddy has some on his 01 R6, I like them and have yet to be pulled over for them even sitting beside a cop and a red light and he told me they looked nice.
Make sure all LED are hidden or it looks cheap, (You can't see any of mine at eye level but in the first pic I was low so you can see where a couple are)

im waiting on my leds to come in from ebay, gonna wire it up soon. ive seen alot of hate on them on this site but i always liked it

Always thought this kinda stuff was supremely stupid. But whatever floats your boat....

Christmas time is over, time to put the coloured lights away, not put them on your bike

I think they look cool and they make you more visible at night. I had red ones on my Cbr and never had a problem from cops. I believe red, white, or amber are allowed under the traffic code. Just make sure the light source can't be seen ie all leds are hidden under bodywork and only a glow can be seen.

White and amber to the front, red and amber to the rear.

Personally, I think it only has a place on a show bike and is just an attention getter that you may not want.

You may want to adjust that chain, looks VERY tight.

It does look like it but it was a brand new chain with perfect 1.25" slack.

+1,

It does seems most people here hate them but oh well, Just as many people here hate 125/250's, cruisers or sportsbikes but as always it is personal preferences.

Totally cool Bro! I have a 10,000 piece kit on my 98 turbo sunfire with 22's...pimpin

I have seen more cruisers with lighting than SS bikes in Toronto though. Its much more popular in the States. As long as it doesn't look ratty with wires hanging out and hack jobs with the power, then I see nothing wrong with it. It might even help with night visibility, help all the minivan drivers see us better.

I wouldn't for example uninstall it if the next bike I buy had one in there already.

If you got it, no reason not to install it. Turn it on when you stop at Timmie's.

I have an R6 as well but I'm in the same situation as you. :( Bought these in the summer but was afraid to install them. I saw some guys that had them installed, but some areas on the bike you can clearly see the LED bulbs. Does not look good and do not settle for it. Be careful If your going to do it, do it right. This is the kit I bought. I'll pay extra for installation as long as it looks fantastic, is safe, clean and not tacky. :D

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe white, amber and red are requirements only for the mandatory head and tail lights on a vehicle. Any additional lights are not restricted to white, amber, or red. At least that's how I interpret the HTA...

62. (1) [...] every motor vehicle other than a motorcycle shall carry three lighted lamps in a conspicuous position, one on each side of the front of the vehicle which shall display a white or amber light only, and one on the rear of the vehicle which shall display a red light only. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 62 (1).

Subsections 14 through 16.1 then go on to restrict only flashing red, blue, and green lights, as well as front facing red or blue lights.

So Jeff's lights should be fine. Although technically if he were to piss off a cop enough, he could get a ticket since glow from the blue lights is still fairly visible in the front.
