Leather Up and Fedex -- angry9:

Just to give a heads up to you guys about poor customer service at Leather Up and involves FedEx...

So, last week I ordered a set of boots and a flydana online and I got a notice that it was shipped on the 25th.

Yesterday (28th) I started wondering when I should expect this parcel to arrive so I looked up the tracking and it said:
May 27th, 12:28pm Delivered - Left at front door. Signature not requested.

Well... that is strange, because I was home all day on the 27th, and in fact my front door was open at 12:28 (all morning, in fact) to have a fresh breeze blow through the porch door. No parcel was out front, and no one came to my door.

So I phone Leather Up... they will check in with FedEx. I get ansy and phone Fedex, they will check into it. I also sent an email in just to make sure they got all of the case details.

Then I get this email:

Dear Customer,

We received an update from FedEx. We would like to inform you that the driver retracedhis steps and confirmed that the package was delivered to the correct location. Please advise if you found your order or not.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our customer service department at 1-888-306-6503.

Have a wonderful day.

Why the frig would I call and email if I found my order... how clear do I have to make it?! And have a wonderful day, why, because I had to wait on hold to report my package missing and all you have to say is 'the driver retraced his steps and confirmed the packaged was delivered'?!

Anyway, I wrote them back with this response... but I assure you that I will never be dealing with Leather Up again.

I am already tired of wasting time on this... I have called you guys, I have chatted with Fed Ex, and I have written two emails already.

I was home all day on May 27. My front door was open at the time that this driver scanned the parcel. No one came to my door and no parcel is on or anywhere near my porch.

All I want to hear now is if you are going to re-send this order or refund my money. If the answer is neither of those then I will be calling Visa to make a claim and have the charges reversed.

Will update as to how they respond or how much more time I have to waste on this order... and for the record, I order a tonne of stuff online, probably 2 or 3 packages every week through Canadas motorcycle, newegg, ebay, deal extreme, amazon, princess auto, etc etc, and I have never had a company even challenge the (rare) claim I have had to make... usually they say 'sorry to hear that, we will resend your order immediately' and then file a claim with the delivery company. Usually, though, the companies deal with Canada Post and if I am not home (and sometimes even if I am home) I just get carded and go pick up the package at shoppers.

Unfortunately this is common with couriers. I've had this happen several times where I've been home all day waiting for the package and then they claim they delivered it. Bull****. Once they even lost a tonneau cover I ordered for my truck. Damn thing comes in a 4.5' x 2' box! When they finally found it they claimed it was undeliverable so they sent it back to sender.

Yep, I've had it happen with pretty much every major carrier... the difference is the response from the sending company. I am not ****ing them around, I didn't get my parcel. I've already waited long enough so just send out the order again and claim the shipping insurance -- and next time pay for the signature option and/or don't allow 'safe drop'.

I sell things online too... a part time business, and the minute a customer says they didn't get an item I either offer a refund or a replacement and then I start the insurance claim. You don't want to lose customers due to a third party's mistake, so you hope for the shipping insurance to come through or eat the loss in the name of customer service.

Nowadays I never send anything without the signature required option selected... a buck or two extra, but someone better have signed for that parcel or the shipping company owes me money.

Same thing happened to me with Fedex where my door was open and wife home. They left package out front until my wife saw it. Two weeks later I received a bill for 17 $ from fedex for customs duties lol. This same package a few weeks earlier was apparently delivered by canada post to my door even though it never showed up. Seller called me saying canada post sent the package all the way back to California lol.
Needless to say, they are all dimwits. Canada post never returned my calls and fedex never got their money because I refuse to pay customs duties on a package that already cleared customs two weeks earlier with no duties.

Good luck with your issue.

It all got resolved today... but what a cluster ****.

When I got up there was no response to my email, so I called Leather Up's customer service.
The woman who answered sounded 1/2 brain dead -- I had to repeat my order number three times before she got it. Finally, once enough information was presented she asked if I wanted the order replaced or a refund... I said replaced. She said great, I just have to confirm with management and the order will require a signature on receipt -- great, the first one should have required a signature too, then we wouldn't be in this situation.

So while I'm waiting for the call back to say management has approved the replacement of my missing order, FedEx pulls up to the house.

Guy asks me "so there are two S... streets?"
"No, actually it is a circle and it circles around back there" (pointing to where the street curves).
"Oh. I didn't know."
"So you dropped this at the wrong house two days ago"?
"Yeah man, mistakes happen".

I left it at that... but why the **** would you drop a parcel at the wrong address if you cannot find the number on the box? Wouldn't the prudent thing to do be to bring the parcel back to the warehouse so someone can figure out the address? Or use a frigging GPS or your smart phone?!

I seriously need a drink to deal with all of the idiots in this world.

Holy hell.... Reminds me of the time Fedex dropped a pair of motorcycle tires at the end of my driveway. I come home to see two motorcycle tires wrapped in clear plastic wrap and and the invoice taped to them. The tires were sitting at the end of my driveway for about 10 hours.... Luckily nobody stole them.

Ups left my neighbours tv ? at the curb. Really?
I wonder what FedEx would have said if you had a security camera at the front door and shown them a time stamp video of no delivery?

I wonder what they are saying to the driver now -- because when they first asked him he confirmed he dropped the parcel in an enclosed porch at the right house; and then two days later he went and picked it up and really dropped it at the right house.

I also still wonder where the parcel sat for two days? Did the people living there not notice it? Were they honest and they called FedEx to report the mistake? I guess I will never know... my parcel had not been opened though.

At least you got your stuff Mike. I'm still waiting for a parcel that Canada Post "delivered" to my house last year. I gave up on it. Thankfully was only 80 bucks. I don't even think anyone stole it as it was just gaskets and bit carb parts that I doubt anyone would have use for.
