leaky brake lines

installed new stainless lines on my cb450 and during the bleeding process i noticed that the lines were leaking where the fitting connects to the line. used a 11mm wrench and tightened it as best i could but it's still leaking, and i'm afraid if i try any harder i might strip the threads. called the manufacturer and he suggested i use teflon tape on the threads, but i thought that brake fluid dissolves the teflon tape , any suggestions?

here's a photo of one of the fittings, ignore the drip of fluid where the fitting connects to brake joint (bolt just wasn't tight enough)

That joint shouldn't be sealed by the threads, it should be sealed by a taper and sleeve inside the fitting. Check that the sleeve is there, but it sounds like it was poorly made, I'd take it back.

can't see above the hose inlet, did you forget the 2nd crush washer?

hey smergy,

the crush washer wasn't on there, placed it back on and it stopped dripping, but it's still leaking from where the fitting connects to the line.

Did you buy the lines pre-made, or did you put them together from fittings? If pre-made, take them back. If assembled from fittings, either the ferrule is not seated or a stray wire strand is in the wrong place or some such thing. Only fix is take it apart and re-assemble with a new ferrule. They are available separately. It's tricky to get these right. Been there ...

are these new lines?
