Leaking Battery

I noticed a some white residue on the side of the frame. Traced it back to the battery compartment. A very small amount of residue in one corner.
Took out the battery and wiped it down for inspection, tiny tiny tiny bit of "water" appeared not sure from where though. Left the battery on the trickle charger since yesterday morning, and there are no sign of water anywhere. The white residue was very easily cleaned with some wet paper towel.
The battery is Parts Canada YTZ 10s about 3 1/2 years old. There is no sign of bulging or deformation of the battery
I read some battery have a something built in the battery for discharge.
Should I get a new battery to be on the safe side?

Yes. It’s a sealed battery. If it’s leaking, you risk both damaging the bike and getting stuck somewhere on a ride.

Usually a sign that you're over charging the battery, you're boiling the battery. If it's a maintenance free battery there is no way to put the water back in... it's done.
Check your charging system.

^yup. maybe your system is over charging, or maybe the battery over charged from the day and half on trickle charge ?

regarding the white stuff - it can appear in places you don't expect - as sometimes vapours float around in the air movement around the battery when riding. sometimes it manages to get on wire connectors and grounds to the frame. its worth taking a look. or not if clean.

Check charging system voltage with the engine running at various speeds. Should be between 13.5 and 15.3 volts across the battery terminals. That is a general-purpose range for a lead-acid battery; the specifications for your particular vehicle may give a narrower range. 14.something is pretty normal. If it's higher, it's overcharging.
