Lawn prep for Patio stones

It's been decided the trailer will live in the backyard next to my shed. The Squeeze wants it to look "nice" so that means the trailer can't live on a bed of dying grass but needs patio stones. Some simple 16"x16" , 20"x20" or 24"x24" square slabs will be sufficient to meet the "nice" bar so that's the plan.

Can I throw those down on the grass and call it done? Do I NEED to remove the grass. Not worried about doing it right so much as just doing it "nice".

Even if I was doing a half assed job, i would throw down a sheet of weed barrier before the stones.

Throwing the stones down on an unprepared location, I expect them to look wonky quickly (but as a pad for a trailer that's probably ok).

There are grids of ABS you can lay down that let the grass grow through! They kind of disappear into your lawn. They look pretty good!

Use a grass trimmer to cut the grass down as far as possible. Spray the cut down area with Roundup. Lay down the weed barrier and cover with a couple (depending on area size) bags of screening just to hold the barrier down and fill in any major dips in the ground. Drop the patio stones.

I have a load of interloc take what you want for free. I think the largest is maybe 10x10 or 12x12.
DM if interested and I provide address and contact info. Also have some pretty clean fill if required to fill any low spots.

Thanks!

In a perfect work you would strip back the sod , put in 4”-6” of limestone screenings and level that and run a plate compactor over it so your nice and flat . They make a nice T shaped tool so you can set the stones down flat and not dig in the edges or plow stone getting them to fit close .
Or you can throw them down and hope for the best .
