Just heard a report on Newstalk 1010, wasn't paying much attention but they said a motorcycle is lying in the intersection with rider taken to hospital. They said SIU "may" also have been called, then speculated that may mean a police chase.

From 680 News website.

One person has been hurt after a crash between a motorcycle and car.
According to police, the crash occurred at the intersection of Kipling Ave. and Evans Ave. around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 21.
The Special Investigations Unit may be called in because there was an interaction with police prior to the crash, said a spokesperson from Traffic Services.

I was driving (car; don't ride moto anymore) home from the gym and encountered massive traffic on the way home through the side streets. Took about 20 minutes to go a few blocks at best. Saw the diverted 15 Evans bus so I figured there was something up. Didn't realize it was a motorcycle accident... from noon. Traffic is -just- starting to let up around here.

Irony is that there were some fenders benders here from people trying to rush out of the congested side streets.

At any rate, hope the fellow recovers. People need to be extra vigilant these days.

Yeah it was kinda disturbing. He was just lying there.. Paramedics were giving him cpr but he wasn't moving. I went to timmy's across the street and when I came back they must have brought him to the hospital. Ppl around ththe guy, were sort of nonchalant.. He was speeding though, so they'll probably charge him once he pulls through..

A Toronto police officer won’t be charged after a crash in Etobicoke last month, Ontario’s police watchdog said Tuesday.

A 24-year-old motorcyclist was taken to hospital after he crashed on Kipling Avenue near Evans Avenue on Aug. 21. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

“In my view, the subject officer did nothing wrong in these circumstances,” Special Investigations Unit (SIU) director Ian Scott said.

The SIU said the officer, who was also on a motorcycle, noticed the24-year-old man had a bent licence plate. The SIU said the officer asked the motorcyclist why the plate was bent, but he didn’t respond.

Instead, the SIU said, the motorcyclist accelerated rapidly on Kipling, driving between two northbound lanes.

The officer did not pursue him, the SIU said. The same officer then saw the motorcyclist lying on Evans Avenue. He called for an ambulance.

The man was taken to hospital with chest injuries, a collapsed lung and a fractured left arm.

“In my view, the complainant was the author of his own misfortune, and the subject officer cannot be held criminally liable for the complainant’s actions in these circumstances,” Scott said.
