Kijiji callers

I listed my old riva 180 on Kijiji. I haven't got a lot of calls for it but I noticed the few callers I have got I can't understand for the life of me. Either they have very thick muttled accents or call using horrific phones . To this point I've told them that its gone or to contact me through the site. I'm sorry but if you can't be clear on the phone how am I suppose to deal with you in person. Am I right to do so?, or am I just being an a-hole? Should I make more of an effort to get any clarity out of these callers? Any one else who used kijiji find these problems? Its my first time using Kijiji and I'm wondering if this is a normal thing.

I never leave my number in ads. Screw that.

Email me and if you're serious I'll call back.

I'm the complete opposite - I always put my number in my ads. In my experience, people who are serious about wanting to purchase actually use my number while most of the others send endless emails asking (mostly stupid) questions and making blind offers.

Nothing is more annoying than wanting to purchase an item only to have to use email via kijiji and play the waiting game, sometimes never receiving a response.

I used to leave my number too until i started getting idiots calling me at all hours telling me "Ive got 3000$ CASH BRO! For a 6,000$ plus item lol

I never leave my number either. Number is only required when it gets to the stage of meeting face to face. I personally find email much quicker and simpler to filter out the bogus offers without actually having to talk to them. Besides, I get enough phone spam as it is.

Ya thats the best as if i'm going to take something other then cash from a complete stranger, or maybe i'll bring my Visa machine...

I would use Tigits for any add I place. Once the ad comes down so does the phone number

I'm not a fan of giving out my phone number. I work shift work, and can't take phone calls at all hours of the day. I'll only give my number to someone once we've scheduled a meet. Email works for me, but then of course I get a million Paypal scammer emails....

I don't put my number on kijiji ads either. Since I only have a cellphone now, I try to abate the number of places/times that my number gets added to some spam/cold call list (and so far it's worked pretty well). But I agree, I would think only serious buyers would call rather than email.
