Key cutting help......

I really don't want to wait until this becomes a problem before I deal with this. 2005 Kawi Vulcan 800, and I am looking to get a spare key made, does anyone know a good place in or around Ajax (Pickering, Whitby, Oshawa or Scarborough) I can get this done?

Cheers,

Any half decent locksmith should be able to help you out. Hardware stores and Canadian Tire probably not.

Last time for my Honda I have gone to the dealer but previously I have used Ajax Locksmiths off of Monarch but that was awhile ago and my bike is a older one.

A locksmith will probably charge more for a key and cutting, compared to a hardware store or CT, but they're far more likely to have the right blank and do a good job.

Buy on eBay get cut at home hardware or Canadian tire. get 2 just incase. They will be under $10 delivered and cutting should be free. If they try to charge u tell them to shove it.

I got my blanks from eBay, and got it cut at Home Depot. The guy at HD made no promises, but I figured holding onto a blank is of no use to me, so I told him to do his best. Yada yada yada, I year later, I'm still using the copy key and the original is safely tucked away.

Paid $5 for my spare for my Suzuki, it was cut on the spot, could try it out immediately, no farting around with HD or E-bay.

some CT's or hardware chains (home depot, rona) will do them if they really want to but be prepared to get rejected or your blank screwed up. up to you. got mine done at rona.

Acme Locksmith in Scarborough stocks blanks of most model bikes. Pricey (over $20.00) but he has the OEM blanks if you want that.

Edit: He also stocks an aftermarket key blank for Givi hard bags.

I have this guy Max, super locksmith, I called him and meet at Kennedy Commons. He's cut me a key in 2 minutes. my key was bent, it couldn't be copied, Max has all the codes and cuts keys off the codes not after copies.and the best part, he doest have shop, he drives a cube van with all his keys cutting machines, that is his business. He can meet you anywhere in GTA.
I bought the key on ebay with $3 and paid $20 to have it cut.
Not bad considering other locksmiths asked $120 and the dealer offered me a good deal ($400) on replacing all 3 locks on my gixexr, huh?
Thanks Max!

pm me for his contacts.

after reading this article, I just ordered 2 blank keys for my vtx on e bay, both cost me 11.50, once I have them I m going to take them somewhere to cut them hopefully cheap

"Any"? Apparently not. I tried two of them without luck. One of them, poor guy, on Kingston Rd, messed 3 blanks of his own and couldnt do it.
Don waste your time. If the locksmith doent know the key code of the motorcycle dont even let him try, trudt me.

Any locksmith would be able to help you :D

Bingo! Thanks Everyone, and especially A.K. Went to Whitby today, got a perfect dupe, and it cost $15 tax included. And those guys really seem to know what they're doing. I recommend them. And they also seem to have all types of bike blanks too. Just call before going like I did. [h=3]905-666-1421[/h]
