Keeping your motorcycle safe at GO Parking

Hi Guys,

I tried searching but couldn't find anything related to this.

I have had a bad experience parking a bike(cycle) at GO station last year. It got stolen in 2 days. I am now planning to ride my motorcycle from my home to GO Train station and have been wondering if it is safe to do so or how can I make it safe there. Is there anyone here who has been parking at GO Station? What are your experiences? What are the measure you take to your motorcycle safe?

I am thinking about buying few locks and a cover to keep it away from sight. Not sure if I should get an alarm. Any suggestions/recommendations will be appreciated.

Thanks.

If your plan is to cover it make sure you use a Hyosung cover. Make sure your insurance is good and get the lowest total theft deductible you can and make sure it's not a bike you love.

Also make sure you don't ride your motorcycle to the GO Station.

Honestly, if a robber wants to steal your bike he will. Its a matter of how easy it's gonna be for him and if you're lucky, if its not easy enough he'll be deterred by it...for a while

some GO Stations have the Motorcycle parking right out front near the ticket boot office - Depending on the size of the GO Station. Not sure where you are coming from .
Anyway, The GO Train I catch, there is one motorcycle parked (cruiser) out with the cars in the general parking lot.

It would also depend on how attractive your bike is to thieves. Late model SS??.......fuggeddaboutit.

If you ride an SS, don't do it.

I've always wondered why they dont have wheel chock lock for motorcycles parking spot?

In Japan at train stations, you have a cool port for each motorcycle....

That's like a theft waiting to happen

Oh well. It seems it is better not to ride to the GO Station at all. I will keep my bike for weekend trips then. Btw, it is a new FZ07. Not SS but new which kinda makes it an easy target.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

On a related note, what kind of locks you guys use to secure the bike? U-Locks? Chains? What are good locks/chains those are pick resistant as well as hardened?

Thanks.

You wanna leave your bike in an open unsecured parking lot for a service which literally spells out that you are somewhere far away from that particular location... and you're asking if its safe? AFTER having your bicycle stolen at the same lot? LOL

The only kind of bike you can ride to the GO station:

What I ride is a little better than this but I've had no problems in fairly regular parking at my lot for the past 2.5 years. But I don't have an SS and my ride ain't new....

What bothers me is that about a year and a half ago they removed the fixed posts they had at the motorcycle parking which I used and put a chain through. Called GO about it and didn't get a helpful reason/reply as to why they got rid of them. Wheel chock locks would be great.

I've occasionally also used the near empty covered bicycle parking and locked up there. Have gotten a couple of $20 tickets from the GO cops.

you should be ok for the first few days... then the fukkers see it and learn your schedule and bam!!! its gone... i doubt its worth the savings when one day you will lose the bike or get tickets

Leave your bike for weekend riding only? Ride it downtown, use the HOV lanes and get the free parking. Makes the work day that much more enjoyable when you get to fit a couple rides in as well.

Bypass the whole hassle of taking it to the GO lot to get stolen, just place and ad on Kijiji, saying where you will be leaving your bike with the keys in the ignition. Don't forget to remind them to bring their own helmet...lol
