Will my street bike notice any difference from a aftermarket airfilter??? I have buddies who swear by them, and buddies who swear at them!!! Let's hear some opinions, waste of time and money or great mod totally worth doing???

I believe on some bikes K&N isn't always an upgreade, Some it loses HP. I just stuck with OEM and replace it instead of cleaning it.

It might notice a lot more wear. :) Use the OEM filter. They don't need to be replaced every 2 months either. There's a service interval in your manual and you should use that as a guide. You might get a bit more horsepower but you might also lose filtering ability if you go with an aftermarket filter.

depends on bike.....OEM's will flow better than KnN in some cases

I vote BMC! Amazing filtering (way better then K&N) and better flow then OEM so they get my vote!

The main attraction to aftermarket filters is that they are washable. Would the manufacturers put a filter in that stifles the engine, considering how important horsepower is to potential buyers? Probably not, but you do have to replace the OEM filters. Try an aftermarket filter and see what you think, K&N says their filters make more power.

Stick to OEM air filters (that's what I've been told by my professional race tuner who is currently working on my track bike)

You should stop swallowing the marketing BS so easily.

Your bike specifically, the OEM filter will make better power and offer better filtration than both the K&N and BMC.

OEM unless you have a flowbench at you disposal to do the porting, polishing, cam timing, fuel mapping etc that goes with the extra air the hi-flow filter medium is going to give you.

I noticed on my track bike that the filter was dry (k&n), would there be a reason for this or just dried out?
