Just got back from Oz and missed riding season=( Need to talk bikes

Welcome back!

If looking for an SV650, you should also consider the Yamaha FZ6R, Kawasaki Ninja 650 and maybe Honda CBR650F (likely more expensive then the others, and a newer bike so less parts, etc).

Without knowing the kind of riding you like doing, I'd actually go with a Suzuki V-Strom 650 (a.k.a. DL650). I think it's better suited to the roads of Ontario.

Toronto Motorcycle Show, Jan 8 International Centre.

Practically any bike you want, any gear you want, etc. But almost no parking.

You really missed a long riding season this year. Many people stopped riding like...Christmas Day.

Welcome :)
So you were there for their winter then come back in time for our winter? thats just sadistic.....lol
As Roadghost said you should go to the motorcycle show so you can sit on almost any bike you want and see how it feels.
What sort of riding do you plan on doing?(example if you plan on touring than a sport bike is not for you) What kind of bikes do you like the look of? This sort of information will help with people being able to suggest what bikes to look at as a starting point. As much as there is a $h!t ton of @$$h@ts on here, there are also a whole bunch of people on here with lots experience and knowledge to help you out

Welcome!

Shop Insurance first. You might be in for a shock.

You mean the rest of the world doesn't pay their motorcycles worth in insurance for bare coverage? :(

I mean, I've paid anywhere from $225 to $1,000 per year for different bikes.
It's best to get a handle on what your price range will be for bikes that you like.

Welcome ....part timeOz dweller here - Heading to Cairns for 3 months in Feb.
Welcome.

Umm "winter" in Oz just means cooler riding instead of th insane temps there now.

You might find the SV650 a bit cramped to get to the great roads in PA and further south. Ontario does not offer much.
My son had one and was very pleased with the better seating position on his FZ-08.
Staff has FZ6 and also can sport tour confortably.
