Just found the best non-battery/heated winter riding gloves...

Just found the best winter riding gloves ever..!! The Windriver T-MAX Winter Gloves from Mark's Work Warehouse.

Tested them out this morning. When I left home it was -3, I had them on with a liner glove under one hand and those black cotton gloves as liner on the left (these are the small ones you get a the dollar store, one size fits all), I did this to see which ones as liners would be more effective, both were equal.

Well I hit 160 on the highway and top of my fingers were fine after getting into downtown (hour later), with some cold burning in, but then again it was -3 and I hit 160 - 140 for a good amount on the 401. So they did with-stand allot of wind.

Last week with my crappy gloves and the same liners at 0 degrees and not hitting 140 my finger tops were much worse with-in half hour into the ride.

So these gloves with stood much more than the other snowmobile ones I have. Another positive point is they are less bulkier and almost look like riding gloves. I got them from Marks Work Warehouse (Bay and Dundas under the Crappy Tire). They are $44.95 and really worth it, funny thing is they don't have them listed on their website. So I've taken a pic below if anyone is interested. Well worth the money if your still riding and plan on till the first snowfall like me....

Thanks for the tip. I've been trying to find something that works that cold as mine seem to fail at about +1.

Thanks for the tip. I've been trying to find something that works that cold as mine seem to fail at about +1.

No problem, glad it will help, cause it took me 2 years to find something as good as this.

Actually this week-end I'm gonna do a some "MacGyver" to these gloves.

As the most critical part that's hit severely by the wind is the top of the four fingers and the end of the thumbs as they wrap around the handles.

Remember the palm and top of my hand are find cause no wind hits it.

I'm thinking of buying those thick rubber garden gloves and cutting the top part of the fingers out of them. Then with crazy glue or contact cement I'm gonna stick the only the top parts ontop of these gloves, just on the finger and thumb areas, thus giving an extra layer that the wind would have to penetrate before hitting the gloves.

This would give me another layer on the most critical part without adding extra bulk everywhere else, what do you think?

It should work, but would look awfully ghetto. Maybe just get a large pair of rainproof gloves to slip over? Princess Auto has some 12V gloves on sale for around $12, but they would definitely need an overglove as they are not windproof at all I don't believe.

The die hards thank you!

I bought these about 4 or 5 winters ago....I gotta say they kick *** too.

Zip cord seals in the warmth, clamping tight over any jacket sleeve, leaving a lot of room for flexibility without letting in any cold.

I have never had a problem with the windside of my fingers getting cold....only the tips after 45min plus riding at 120kph +. In the coldest of temps I would never more than twice per ride warm up on the engine.

Where these excell over a MWW product is the palm abrasion reinforcement, the waterproof inner layer, the protective knuckles and the sturdy leather construction which provides excellent throttle grip and feel, considering these are winter gloves.

The only down side, as with any riding glove, is fingers poking through after years of use. With summer gloves they end up poking right through the leather. Not so with these, but what does eventually happen is a compression and gentle wearing down of the insulation at the finger tips, thus reducing some temp protection over the years.

That being said....I have NEVER worn these with liners, even down to -2 or -3.

Couple these gloves with liners and I don't they they can be beat! In terms of insulation I actually prefer these to my Burton snowboarding gloves (and not those light gloves....those gloves that get the special "hot" rating!).

I even use these gloves with a sharp business coat in the coldest temps because they actually protect much better than any Harry Rosen half *** business gloves, but also the high quality leather suits an overcoat! The knuckles....well I kindly like defined leather knuckles, they look kinda like tight leather gloves. I just zip the coard under the over coat...that would be lame otherwise.

wow they look nice where in GTA can you pick these up?

I picked these up when I was living in London. Hein Gericke is a German brand with stores across Europe where they sell their own house brand as well as top end other brands.

There is no distribution of their product here, so you will have to order them. I wear L in Alpinestar and Dainese summer gloves. Dainese fit right, Alpinestar are a smidge on the snug side.

But with the Hein Gericke I went with XL.

PS when they say waterproof, they don't mean a downpour....like a summer dumping, but these gloves have never had an issue in standard light to mid November or spring rains. They can eventually be penetrated in a serious dumping of rain.

One other thing, if you order from the UK all taxes are included in the price....so maybe call first or see if you can add a note to the order to remind them to drop the 20% VAT tax when processing the order because you are paying from outside the UK. So the 60 pound price tag is actually less 20%. You might even get them through Canadian customs with no charge on top. Canadian customs more often than not does not convert the numerical value when they calculate duty....so they will likely just look at the number, and apply duty on that, rather than first convert it to $CAD. That's if they even bother with duty. It can be quite hit or miss.

.if good enough for Everest might keep my hands warm and if they don't I can return
The liners are amazing and can go in my other gloves as well.
These are the liners and insulaion on the back of hand and around fingers is terrific
Body of glove is long enough to work with mcycle jacket.

Just phoned the EB location on Donmills, which I pass on my way home, they have it in stock, the sales guys said it's an awesome glove...well at the price of $179.00 plus tax it better be...I may stop over and try them on. The sales guy said to try em for a week if your not satisfied bring them back...don't know I may take up that offer....

That's what I am doing - guy said return them if not satisfied - have not been out in them.

What I like is I can also use the liners from the EB in my existing Gortex overgloves - tho the EB outer gloves look and feel very good as well.

You guys should try EB's titanium underwear. They're a steal at only $200 a pair.

My 20 dollar leather gloves were great to 200kph this morning.

Another nice glove is the BMG (British motorcycling Gear) Thermosport winter glove. Its insulated, armored, waterproof and all leather. So far with heated grips 0C is no issue, as usual though the finger tips get cold first as they aren't in direct contact with the warm part of the grip. The one thing I have found is that the palm does have a layer or two so the feel on the grips is muted, still not an issue though after a few minutes working the controls.

So I picked up the Gloves from Eddie B. called "First Acsent" as mentioned earlier. Tried them on today, it was -3 when I left home (feels like -6 with wind chill).

Hit the hwy at 120-130 then off to DVP then local, my finger tips did get freezing but at the lights rather than ripping them off frantically to make a fist thus worming the fingers I could just pull fingers a bit down and make the fist with-in the glove to warm the fingers, which is a big plus, also the they are longer than the Marks gloves therefore go over the jacket and a bit less bulky as I don't need an extra liner (they already come with their own liner).

Eddie Bauer currently has a store wide sale- 25% off everything so with tax these come out to $155.00 rather than $179.00 plus tax which would be $202.27, so you save around $50.

I'm gonna keep these EB gloves and return the Marks gloves, cause they are warmer and plus Eddie B. has a life time warranty on these rather than the standard warranty on Marks.

I think today was considerably colder with wind chill than yesterday morning as well, and these did as good and maybe a bit better than the Marks gloves. So for a $100 difference I think they are worth it especially with the warranty factor.

I would have preferred to pick up the German Hein G. Gloves mentioned earlier in the post but with-out knowing what exact size would fit me and with-out giving them a shot it's hard decision to just ordering off the net and not having them fit properly or work against our wind on bike issues.

So if your thinking of still riding I highly recommend these.

So further to add to the 25% off Eddie B. sale on accessories they have extra amounts off, so if you buy any 4 accessories you get an extra 40% off so 40%+25% = 65%.

So I'm going today to add to my gloves, you can just buy 3 pairs of socks at $10 each so my bill with these gloves will be $179 + 30= $210-65% ($136.50) = $73.5 + HST=$83.05.

Original price of these gloves are $179.00 + HST=202.27

So instead of $202.27 you pay $73.50 and you get 3 pairs of socks for free!....awesome deal..:D
