Just bought a bike, how should I proceed?

Hi everyone,

Been lurking around and this is probably my first time posting. A quick intro about myself - I have always wanted to ride a motorcycle since I was a teenager, but there were many things stopping me from getting one until recently (parents/money/insurance and the list goes on ...). I turned 25 this past year and decided to get my M2 through the RTI course last fall. Ever since I got my M2 I have been checking kijiji/GTAM everyday. With all the research I've done I finally settled on a GS500F as my first bike and picked it up over the weekend. It's sitting in my garage right now :)

Now I need to get insurance/plate/safetied, I've got a question for you guys:

I rented a uHaul trailer to bring the bike home. Mechanically speaking I think the bike is in great shape, however both tires should be replaced (seller did mention this to me), and I'm not sure if it will pass safety before doing so. A friend has recommended me to bring the bike to Ted and have him take care of everything. What's the best way to do this? Do I need to rent a trailer to bring it over to Teds, and then rent again to bring it home? Or can I get a plate+insurance with a temporary sticker so I can ride it to Teds? (Is there such thing as a temporary sticker for bikes?) I would prefer not having to rent a trailer if at all possible, it's quite a bit of work having to pick it up/strap on the bike/return the trailer, but if that's what I have to do, then that's what I have to do.

Sorry for the long read. Can't wait till I can get on the road!

Yes get a temp sticker(10 days) and ride it to ted's. All you need is a signed ownership(from previous owner)and insurance. Be careful as you get familiar with the bike, try to avoid highways until you are comfortable. Once you get the safety pop back to the mto and get your yearly sticker.

I'm pretty sure Ted (Rosey Toes) doesn't have the licence to do safeties anymore

where are you located?,maybe a friend has a pick-up with a ramp and take it where you can get the work done.

Proceed by finding a nice gal out there and then ride around 2up with her in booty shorts

True ... if you need to safety and you are planning to wait remember you need an insurance to get a temp sticker and you only have 10 days..

News to me Ted doesn't have safety any more... maybe call him and ask?

Once all paper work is ready, get to girl, come out to rides and enjoy :)
