Just a heads up if your parking downtown.

Thanks for the link.

Base on what 680 news is saying.. is this true?? I know about street meter parking is free but pay and display lots too???

Motorcycles and mopeds are allowed to park for free at all on street-parking meters and pay-and-display lots.

Not all pay and display lots. Street parking for sure, but I think some of the Green P lots are licenced, not actually owned by the city.

As for the enforcement news, I posted the full TPS press release earlier -http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforum/showthread.php?171358-Parking-On-Sidewalks

I just called Green P and was told that motorcycles have to pay for parking in their lots.

They said to keep the receipt portion on me in case the on-bike portion is lost. If ticketed, send them a scanned copy and they will drop the ticket.

waaaaah - so basically ONLY ON STREET METERED PARKING is free?

or pay and display on the street.
The difference isn't the method of payment, it's the location on street vs parking lot.

Damn, hopefully Durham doesn't start cracking down too, it's my fav place to park!

I'd imagine that the free lots are the ones without gated entry...

No lots are free, this would be like me driving a nice huge H1 hummer on to your driveway without asking you and walking away, you have to pay to use them the only difference is they may or may not let park there and sometimes might be able to get away with free parking if you ask nicely (if an attendant is there) but typically these lots are unmanned and purchase a ticket from a metre and put it under your seat or somewhere visible. You just need to tear the tag and keep a copy of it in your wallet in case you do get a ticket.

How annoying!!! I used to park on this sidewalk that was out of the way park.jpg
And then last week a rider advised me to park on the street...because of this news..so I moved my bike over to street parking..and the SAME day I find my bike rear ended by an SUV after work!!

Of course, they have nothing better to do. I've never encountered a sidewalk where bikes were impeding foot traffic or heard of anyone complaining about it.
