Just signed up for the track day at GBM being put on by Forest City Honda on Saturday, July 23.

Check out the info here: http://www.osrclub.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=27882.0

Gates open at 9 am, get on track at 10 am. A bit of a short day but for $100 +tax, you can't go wrong.

Sounds like it's filling up already. If you're interested, get signed up now. Contact details in the link or call (519) 649-1126.

Looking forward to checking out this brand new track!!!

Peace.

I signed up when it was originally supposed to run on July 1st. Obviously due to weather, etc the paving had to be pushed back. Unfortunately I can't make Saturday track days until late August becuase of school.....so I have to miss this one. Boo!

we get up at 4am for SMP to miss the toronto traffic, although from waterloo GB isn't that much closer for 2 hour less of track time. Probably wait till next year once the oil comes out a bit. Wish they would run 9-5 like a normal track day.

Agreed.

If the first few GBM track days are successful, we might be able to convince them to run the days longer. And hopefully open the gates a bit earlier, too.

(Gates open at 9 am and on track at 10 am doesn't leave much time for setup, tech inspection, riders meeting, etc.)

For that, we'll probably have to pay more than $100 (+tax), though, since they'll need to have staff on site for longer, etc.

For now, all we can do is sign up, sell the days out and show GBM that running track days is a good money-making venture.

Normally bad form to reply to one's own post but there's been a very nice development...

Updated information on the Forest City Honda website indicates the hours have changed and for the better!

Gates open at 7:00 am
Tech inspection 7:30 - 8:30
Riders Meeting 8:30
First group on track at 9:00 am

Looking good!

I think you're confused dude, it's 120km vs 300km! Less than 1/2 the driving time of SMP. Also keep in mind that driving to Shanny you get the sun in your eyes in the morning and on the way home, GBM you won't. :)

As much as I'm super eager to check out the new track I'll be waiting until September to go.

You guys heading out for these track days need to remember that you are pioneers for the rest of us. Make sure to get all sorts of of pictures and video and detailed accounts of the track and facilities for us please!

Yeah, good call :)

I was by there on Canada Day and didn't see any particular action around the road coarse, but there was a big drag event happening. Hopefully the paving went ahead as scheduled last week.

I haven't heard an update since the last one on their website. Forest City Honda did call me yesterday looking for my e-mail saying they will be sending out information shortly (probably to do with the revised schedule). However, I do recall Ken saying that after paving, the more rain the better and obviously that hasn't happend. Actually just heard this morning "this July has been the dryest in a decade". Greeaaatt...

*** UPDATE ***
It's a go for July 23rd! Taken from thread on OSR Forums:
There were a lot of comments in the other thread so I thought a new one would be best.

First and most importantly there is pavement down on the track!!!! Our general manager was there on Saturday and rode around on a golf cart and the top coat will be on Tuesday (tomorrow)

There are a number of people that have paid, and a number that have reserved spots. Now that the pavement is down we are all breathing that sigh of "finally" as opposed to the "when will it be dry enough to pave?"

We will start contacting people shortly that have paid to get email addresses so the rules can be sent to them. There are a few changes to the day - since we're running "short track", now clarified as the Kart Track, on July 23rd we only want 18 people (plus marshals) on the track to make more space for us all.

-if you’ve paid for your track day you can send us your email address (see below) and we’ll send you the rules

Running 3 groups of 18 (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)
-riders will be grouped based on experience
><>< Running rain or shine ><><

For the July 23rd track day: Short Track – now confirmed as the Kart Track
We are still taking advance bookings/reservations now $100.00 per rider (plus tax) until July 14th
Bookings will need to be paid by the 14th to still have the 100.00 fee
On / after July 15th it will be $145.00 per rider (plus tax)

For the August 1st track day: Long Track – now confirmed as Technical Track
We are still taking advance bookings/reservations now $100.00 per rider (plus tax) until July 26th
Bookings will need to be paid by the 26th to still have the 100.00 fee
On / after July 27th it will be $145.00 per rider (plus tax)

Gates Open at 7am
Tech Inspection between 7:30 – 8.30am
Drivers Meeting 8:30am
First Group on track 9am

We're also offering bike transportation to and from the track day for $50.00 for your bike (plus tax). You and your gear need to get there under your own means.
Bikes are to be here (Forest City Honda) for 1 to 2 days before and picked up 1 to 2 days after the track day (weekends understandable extra day if need be). And just as it is for the track day booking, the spot on the trailer is only reserved once payment is received. If you have trouble getting your bike to us we can offer to pick them up for an additional fee - pricing is based on the distance we would be driving to get it

For questions or booking information please call us at 519 649-1126 and you can speak to Kevin, Todd or Paul for further details.
