Jimmy Carter, RIP

I remember Jimmy and his notorious brother Billy in the early 80s.

He wasn’t an impactful president, other than repatriating the US Iranian hostages.

But he was a superpower as an express debt. A Nobel peace prize winner, international democracy advocate and civic good doer with habitat at for humanity.

When I think about MAGA, I think about the Jimmy Carter legacy.

RIP President Carter.

Relative to most presidents I think Carter was a good man at heart and lived a full life serving people and his community. He gave a lot of himself and asked for little in return.

Think of the contrast between Carter and Trump as people. You'd be hard pressed to find 2 more different people.

I think Carter set a near perfect example of what public service should be about.

Today public service attracts too many that prioritize serving themselves first, then the public. Carter had it right, he enriched the public first.

Not many like him.

Sadly a lot of Americans prefer hawks to doves and take little issue with rule bending. Reagan brought back the tough guy image.

I think Regan got there at a time similar to when Trump in 24. Inflation was nuts, interest rates were being used to fight inflation. He also had unemployment and recession issues.

People value the economy more than anything else Hurt that and you’re an ex-president.

Also, remember the Iran hostage issue. Over a year in captivity. Iran agreed to release the hostages under Carter's watch, but actually let them go Jan. 20 after Reagan was sworn in just to screw Jimmy over. Americans were very dissatisfied with how Carter handled the whole issue, including the failed raid.

I don't think the Iranians wanted to mess with Reagan either.

Carter addressed the nation,on live TV, said he was the one that approved the plan/gave the green light on the raid, and the responsibility for the failure rested firmly on his shoulders and his shoulders only. If you think you'll ever see anything like that from Drumpf ya might want to loosen off the clasp/strap a bit on that cheap red made in China ball cap.
