JEVCO - Insurance increase after Not at Fault Accident?

Hello,

My buddy recently backed his car into my 2005 Kawasaki Ninja ZZR 250 causing it to topple over on a gravel driveway. There is now damage to the plastic body all along the left side.

I am wondering if my insurance company, Jevco, will increase my rates if we decide to deal with this through insurance.

Can anyone give me any information confirming that they will or will not increase my rates, as I was not at fault and not on the road?

Thanks.

If he admits to it and swaps info with you...your insurance wont go up but his will.

If you claim it under your own insurance (assuming you are covered...I forget if its comprehensive or specified), you pay deductible and your insurance still wont go up.

If you have a claims free discount, I believe you will lose your discount.

Assuming your friend has insurance this is a Direct Compensation Property Damage Claim (DCPD).

You're entitled to claim for the damages to your motorcycle, any contents that were damaged (unlikely you had any contents in or on the bike) plus the loss of use of the motorcycle, i.e. a rental car/bike/taxis while it's getting fixed.

Only in extremely rare cases are DCPD claims subject to a deductible.

A DCPD claim will no affect your premiums, but this will be an at fault claim on your friends policy and his premiums will go up.

My first year insured with Jevco my bike got backed in to. Bike was a write off. Insurance did NOT increase. Deamed not at fault as bike was parked.

Platinum_Cycle knows what he's talking about -- this is the answer you want to read.

FYI, insurance companies are not allowed to increase your rate as a result of a claim where you are deemed 25% or less at fault.
