Is anyone going?

We leave tomorrow night for Dublin and then taking the Ferry. Unfortunately for us its a bit of a working holiday as we're doing some production work for Fox Sports 1. I'm not sure if they are carrying the whole thing or not but we'll only be doing the odd clip for short updates. Regardless it doesn't matter as we don't get it in Canada.

At the Clifton on the main Promenade in Douglas but will most likely be spending most of our time in Bushy's tent :)

To all who are going, enjoy..........

BTW, Trying to organize a Canadian night so if we can pull it off I'll post the time and place

So jealous!!! Husband has been several times but I've never been. It's on the bucket list that's for sure!

I am hoping to attend next year. Any recommendations on where to stay, what to see, where to watch from etc. from people who have been would be awesome.

If you can score a bike it’s definitely the best as you will have access to every part of the course.

If not, Douglas makes a good base. There are a lot of attractions and nightlife and you can walk to many good spots. South to QuarterBridge and Braddan Bridge and north up as far as Brandish or even Creg-ny-Baa. It’s 2 or 3 miles but there are a lot of good sport along the route. You can also take the train up the mountain and there are some good spots within a short walk – bring food and something to drink though.

I normally stay in a B&B and there are lots along the main Promenade in Douglas. There are so many attractions that all you really need is somewhere to sleep. There are modern and vintage car and motorcycle displays, Motocross, The Purple Helmets, Funfairs, Special Movie Presentations, trials and lots of good Bands. Normally Steve Gibbons plays which is a great show.

If you are thinking of going I would book the ferry reasonably soon as it will fill up well in advance. I normally fly into Dublin take the ferry from there. It’s very convenient. It’s only a short hop in a taxi or public transport from Dublin Airport to the docks and Aer Lingus and Air Canada have regular flights. If you go to England you normally end up at Heathrow or Gatwick and it’s a 3 hour train ride to Liverpool.

If you have any specific questions or need more info just PM me. I don’t log in every day but I’ll eventually get back :)

Lived there for 4 years, sucked up all the fumes from the races both the TT and Southern. Don't forget to wave to the (real) fairies at the Fairy Bridge if you travel from Douglas to Castletown! Best wishes to all riders, stay safe, that is pure road racing at its best.

The "Race Course" is public roads. The whole TT event occurs over two weeks. Practices are generally late afternoons & evening every other day. The rest of the time the roads are open for public use.
Oh, and the Isle of Man has no national speed limits, so, most of the course is unlimited. However, don't expect to average 130 MPH.
