Isle of Man TT this year ? Anyone want to go ?

I am seriously thinking of going. That "someday" we have talked about ... well that day has arrived.

Dates May 25-June 7th. Flight to Dublin, Glasgow, London, Liverpool, or Belfast and a connecting flight to Douglas airport. Total cost for air should be about $1k and that seems reasonable.

I thought that taking a bicycle would be a good idea and worth the small cost to give instant transportation. Apparently lots of the 35,000 visitors take camping gear, so maybe a sleeping bag / tent gear would be good too.

If anyone wants to discuss this or give me advice / help OR wants to tag a long --- I will be very appreciative !!

My uncle and cousin drive there from Ireland every year. I can forward any questions you have to them. My uncle packs his zrx into a van that he converted into a camper and my cousin brings a tent. Bicycle transport is not good enough to get you around the course to the different viewing areas. He also joins the mad Sunday run.
 
subscribed to thread - this won't be my year, but the trip is definitely on my 'to-do' list.

I've been discussing TT2013 with some close friends - so far, I have been developing a vision of an RV rented in England and driven/ferried over to the Isle for the event. Ideally, we could also find small displacement dual sports (125s/250s) to take on the RV. The idea is to have the RV to live and sleep in for the week of the event and have the small bikes to move around from one area to another during the event / races rather than driving from one place (or worse; walking) to another. The idea of a tent has zero appeal to me given the usual weather (rain with occasional sunshine) and then you would still need to find a way to shower/etc. The RV is the ideal solution as long as the cost can be shared amongst 4 + guys.
 
I went last year, amazing experience. You wanna rent a bike though, cause after watching the race your own adrenaline is pumping to get some riding in.
