Bluetooth remote control for photocamera function but want to know if I can use it as a trigger instead???

I have the items working BUT the issue is I only need it to record when it is not me. I don't need it recording when I am home.
Meaning is there software that does facial recognition or can I setup what I have to achieve the same result?

I am stuck at this part.

The other option is to setup a remote control (see item above) that I press the button to start/stop the system recording.
The current remote only works with the camera feature to allow you to take photos when you are alone...selfie but with camera on a table out of hand.

Just investing in a proper DVR based security camera setup would seem like the proper decision to me.

Watch the Lorex FB page on Black Friday, they always have deals.

A friend created a program that constantly checked for the presence of devices on his home network and play music when he was home (when his phone was connected to the network, music would play, when the phone disconnected from the network, music stopped). Something similar may work for you, when you are home, the camera isn't armed, when you leave it arms.

As a simple approximation to this, you may be able to have the cameras connect to a secondary wireless access point that then connects to your main access point with a fixed ip address. Set your phone to connect to the main access point with the same fixed ip address. Set the lease time low (~15 minutes). In theory, this may cause conflicts that drive the cameras offline when you are home. In practice, I'm not sure if it would work reliably.

hmmm the music idea is good but I would do it in the reverse...however not sure how that would work.
My primary phone is not the recorder...I am using spare phones for that.
Maybe IFTT has a function I can put on my primary phone could do something.

Where is NFQ? He is good at this stuff also.
Maybe I can use voice commands for the security phone...camera on/off.

I would prefer a remote 'buzzer' that can be placed on the inside door by the lock so I can press to arm.

Just to be clear, his phone doesn't play the music, his computer running the program does. The presence of his phone is the trigger that the computer program is looking for. You could use the same trigger, but you need to figure out how to make that arm/disarm the recording, can the software on the phones accept commands via email?

hmmm
I think I can probably use IFTTT or Automate It. I get the idea now. Mine would have to be the reverse that when my phone is not there it starts to record.

Anyone else with some ideas?
