Walked down to start my GSXR600 this morning.. and the lights flicked on for a second and then died... then after a couple of tries the bike jumped into life after the dash flashed for a few seconds and the RPM needle jumped up and down and the bike hiccuped as it started.. (looked as if it was a loose connection). After that the bike started and ran perfectly fine but I noticed that all my dash settings were re-set (shift light, date/time etc.)

I recently had some wiring work done to it (fuel pump wire was re-wired) but I also know that the stator issue is common to my bike.

I've also heard it might be the safety switch at the kickstand?

Sounds to me like a pinched NOS line. Check to make sure you don't have a danger to manifold code

Do you have a service manual for it?
If so follow the testing for the Stator, RR and battery and you will find out which if any is the one giving you the problem.

Gotta put a multi-meter to test components out. The stator is a known issue...but the bigger issue is the rectifier and its location.

But check the NOS lines like kellen said...but also check the silly stuff like battery cables - has that been done?

Checked NOS lines... all are clear.. added another 30 shot for good measure.

Another piece of information here is that the bike was recently in storage for about 2 weeks with the battery un-tendered. However when I got back the bike started up no problems and ran fine. It was only after a tank of gas that this problem emerged.

I'm currently at work and don't have tools to check the bat cables but will do that when I get home. I did however try to start it again and after the fuel pump primed it clicked as normal... it took a little bit longer than normal on the ignition to start the bike (after which it ran fine)

Everything points to battery issue....look into that first. Get a load test etc etc....all that simple fun stuff.

If it keeps cycling and the battery is fine, im pretty sure I know what's wrong with it and it involves the rectifier. Worked on a 07/08 750 that burned 1/2 its harness.

Its in your best interest to move that rectifier to a spot where it gets better air flow. 2007--> 2013 --> The odds of the rectifier going is VERY good too!

I don't know why suzuki thought mounting the rectifier and its wiring by a hot rad / headers was a bright idea....if its not caused you issues now - it will in the future - Guaranteed!
