Is K-W Honda known for being "rude"?

Since there's Review section on this forum I decided to post my experience.
I must say that was my first time ever dealing with that place.
About 2 weeks ago before I bought my bike I called KW Honda to ask them where exactly compliance label was located on Honda CBR600RR. They transferred me to service department.
An employee picked up the phone there and I told him what I needed to know. Long story short he gave me a wrong locating of the label anyway. He said it's on the rear arm of the bike, where it is actually on the left side by your gas tank (it has your VIN # on it).
That's not the point of the story though. I mentioned to him that I'll be bringing the bike over from the states. That's where his attitude turned 180 degrees. His tone of voice changed to really rude like I'm some POS or something.

He said: "You guys are going down there to buy bikes, stealing our Canadian business away. Why should I even help you, huh?!"

Me: "Umm wow, can you please fix your attitude? If you guys had similar prices I would buy in Canada."

Him: "CAN I HELP YOU WITH ANYTHING ELSE?"

Before I could say "No" he already hang up on me. lol That's not how you treat a potential customer IMO. I wasn't even rude to this guy. Either way I wrote an email to KW Honda of what happened but got no reply back. Whatever.

Now I wanna pick up some oil and filter and second guessing myself. Any other spots in Kitchener-Waterloo where I can buy filter and oil (Motul) for 2008 Honda CBR600RR?

Thanks for reading.

Wow, definitely never had an expierence like that and I have been then many times.

Which guy was it? There is a guy with a stutter that knows his stuff, and I believe his dad at the service desk.

Well, I got to say it was kinda rude for you mention that you are asking him all these questions because you are going elsewhere. It's like going to a store and trying all their stuff on and having someone help you the whole time then saying "thanks for your help, now I can order all this stuff on line".

I hate KW Honda. I've never had a good experience there. Try Apex Cycle just 2 blocks away on Northfield. The staff there is a little more down to earth.

Remember this. The customer, even if wrong, is always right.

Sounded like an older gentlemen for sure.

I see where you're coming from. I still think there was no need to be that rude since they would be the first ones on my list to go buy oils, filters and such. I'll give them benefit of doubt and call them today to get stuff for my oil change. Who knows maybe the guy had PMS that day. I'll give it a shot.

The dad is kind of short on the phone where as his son seems to make sure you got everything you need.

I would check out Sirius motosports in Cambridge if your looking for oil change stuff.

Honda charges almost $60 for a jug of Motul 5100 where Sirius is about $35.

They are just down the street from the Cop shop in cambridge near Costco.

I agree, there was no need for him to be rude. He is doing customer service after all when dealing with the public. Just looking at it from an other point of view, that is all.

I had a few bad experiences with Riders Choice but gave them a few more shots as the quality of product is good there and they are close, have had nothing but good service with them now.

I bought my FJR from them in 04 (used ), they helped me out a lot. But have not been back since I moved out of the area in 08.

With my Yamaha for parts and servicing I always went to Performance on Beaverdale Road for over 20 years, even ordered parts there for my Honda and they got them faster than if I ordered them from a Honda dealer. And they never gave me grief for buying the bike at another shop.

But yes, I can see a dealership getting upset for buying a bike in the US and then asking questions about it. I would have been more inclined to build a relationhip with them before you ask for stuff like that.

Hey thanks for the link. I can swing by there on my way from work.

probably Rob, hes the only older guy there. The younger guys that work there tend to be better. His phone "etiquette" can definitely use some work. A lesson in customer service and why it is important would be an asset. Clearly that pinched a nerve, but that is absolutely no excuse for poor customer service. IMO, this is exactly why I avoid the stealership whenever possible. If your pricing sucks, you better really make up for it in service, which is not the case. The reality of business is that it always flows to the lowest cost point. You don't have to like it, you can cry like a baby about it, but money doesn't care.

I still buy parts there from time to time (albeit reluctantly), when its not worth getting from the states, or if I need something in a pinch. Going to the track is pretty synonymous with being a regular at the parts place. You can argue the supporting business case, which is cute, but again, money doesn't care. That's business.

if your importing a bike:

and if you need RR parts:

ship to canada via USPS, reasonable shipping rates, good rates on parts, but they won't do anything "special" for customs

Couldn't have said better.
I read your story before I was doing my research on how to export. Very informative, thanks! I brought my bike over last Wednesday.
