Can I do that? set up cones late evening or early morning on crappy tire or a school or a church or a library parking lot? vee early hrs of the morning or late night when there's no cars or ppl around? or would the cops consider it stunting or reckless driving or w/e in a private property?

As long as you have permission of the property owner, and not operating your motorcycle in a dangerously I don't see why not.

Then of course, the property owner would have to consider all the civil liability he'd be opening himself to in case you fall, And then sued him if something happens.....

Lived in a quiet section of Mississauga for a few years, driver training cars would come from Etobicoke to practice parallel parking in front of my house using a cone and my truck!
I would pick up the cone, give it to them through their window and tell them to go away, one accused me of 'taking the law into my own hands' and he put the cone in front of my truck again.
I put the cone in the bed of the truck and told him I was going inside to call the police. Still use that cone for baseball practice with the kids.

well technically if it's on the street, they can do it. But if you complained, the right thing to do would be go away.

Stop being such a polite Canadian and just do it. No one cares.

I pretty well practice slow turns on any parking lot I see, fast stops on empty streets going up or down a hill, need that memory muscle when it's for real....it helps me when
trying to anticipate time near traffic lights. For me practice practice is my motto, but still hate acute road turns I'm fairly high on the cruiser.

And this is what's wrong with North America...I wonder if Europe is like this too. Asia sure as hell isn't (but in bad ways too).

Wow just do it. Its a good thing you want to do. I've had cops stop me in my car while practising slides etc in the winter. I told them straight up I was practicing car control to make me safer on the road. They just told me to leave no harm done. The only alternative would be a winter track day which I didn't want to do for obvious reasons. Just be cool about it, not all cops are bad lol

If a cop did ever give you a ticket for 'stunting' while turning around cones in a parking lot it would be the easiest thing to dismiss. Obviously they would be retarded to fault you on something like that.

On a related note, where do actual stunters practice legally? ?

You need to ask Pine Cone Guy. He is the expert in all things cone.

It's my understanding cops can't give you a ticket on private property, so don't worry about that. Unless you've been asked to leave by the owner and don't, at which point you're an idiot. I've been asked to leave parking lots, and did so without question. Find a place to practice early in the morning and no one will say anything for the most part. If you set up cones in a Beer Store parking lot on a Friday night, don't expect to stay there long.

The guy 2 posts above you cares if you parked behind his truck on public property xD.

In all seriousness to that post, no one likes their vehicles used for practice, but if you think about it, I'm sure you'd encounter bad drivers with bad parking jobs everywhere you go - you just don't see it happen for the few hours you're in a building.

Dangerous driving under the criminal code applies everywhere including parking lots and your own driveway. Just let it be known. The safest thing would be to go to a track, but is say if a parking lot were your goal, I'd get the permission of the landlord and don't do any fast speed in that lot....

how to get permission from a landlord of a big mall???

I was hoping I'd just sneak in after RTI or learning curves are finished and then do my thing there and leave...

I do not plan to go fast in the lot...40 kmph max but yes I might lean the bike at a steep angle and all...that's all...I hope that is not considered dangerous driving

I once did it in an empty parking lot. I didn't ask permission

I live by a go-train lot, and do a lot of 'evaluation' runs with all their cameras and whatnot after working on something.
Zero issues on an early Saturday/Sunday when the lot only has a few cars remaining from the week.
