iphone gurus need your inputs

Happy mommy day.

I got a iphone question. I like my iphone very much (4s) like all of you guys do as well. So I bought the Otterbox defender case for it. As you will know while the defender has great protection, it does add alot of bulk that kinda gets to you after a few months. So I decided to go for a more sleeker case like the Otterbox reflex but one issue: The 30 pin port is left exposed!!.. So my question is for the long time iphone users who left the 30 pin post exposed through daily use - any problems? Kinda corny question sorry... but inputs would be very appreciated. Thanks!!

Never caused a problem with my 3, had it for a few years. I did once have to get something out of the port on the 3s which was preventing itunes from seeing it though (charged fine.)

If you're that worried, cover the hole on the smaller case with electrical tape. One piece bigger than the hole on the inside, then another the same size as the hole through the hole on the outside, sticky-side to sticky side.

You should be fine . I too had a similar concern and wondered why Apple doesn't sell a plastic plug insert .

Never had an issue and I never had a case on my 3G. I have a BookBook for my 4S, but at work it's always in my pocket unprotected .

Never an issue, and my phone goes to construction sites..

You just get cut build up in the connector port.. Blow compressed air in once in a while

I had my 3gs for 3 years with no case at all and never had a single charging/sync issue. I took it to work every day in dirty and disgusting places and it didn't even have a nick in the screen. They are pretty tough until you put them in your pocket and forget your keys are already in there.

get this and don't worry about it

I've had every gen of iPhone since it was launched, have never used a case outside of a protective sticker on the back. No issues at all

No issues here either. Wife had the Defender and changed over to a Commuter which is what I have. I change it up once in a while and go back to an invisible skin which leaves the 30 pin exposed. In fact with all my previous iPhones I only ever used skins of some kind so it was always exposed.

You can get quite the lint build up but as already suggested just blow it out once in a while. I also found that putting my phone top down in my pant pocket avoided this issue all together.
