Ipad Mini

I was considering to purchase Apple's Ipad Mini, but the hefty price tag of $329 completely threw me off. I was reading some analysts hype from the Globe claiming it was going to be ~$250. Traders are dumping their stocks - currently shares down ~1.6-2%.

After reading the 'hype' about the windows 8? tablet coming out, it is now prospected to be a disaster; and I'm not a fan of android and their 'glitchy' phones; the software won't run Full Tilt Poker, so purchasing the Nexus is out of the question.

Main reason I'm looking for a tablet:
Full Tilt Poker. Scheduled to come back online Nov 8. It only run's with Windows or Mac systems; and since windows 8 is ****, and the ipad mini is way overpriced, I think I will be running sessions on my desktop.

/Rant.

Yeah... the tech on the iPad mini is less than desirable at that price point.

I understand that nexus7 doesnt run the app/software you're looking for, but with Ice Cream Sandwich and even more with Jelly Bean (most recent os that comes on Nexus7) the glitchiness isnt an issue anymore.
At all.

Smooth as butter. Just sayin ;)
So maybe you could look at cheaper notebooks! Could easily find some in the ipad mini/ ms surface price range!

iPad mini? Or was it the iPhone Xtra? Or the iPod XL?

You could see if a Playbook would do the trick. Can pick them up for $100 or less nowadays.

I have a Playbook. They are cheap but I do not like using it. It is slow, apps hang, doesn't sleep properly. It's primary job now is a Youtube Player for my 2 year old son.

I'm glad the Mini came out. My hope is that the cost of used iPad2s will go down sub $200. That is what i'm after.

I had the Kobo E-Reader "Tablet"... which would be awesome if it had a stronger or dual processor.

It couldn't keep up with me so I got the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.0. Best tablet ever.

I post this on facebook whenever there's a new Apple product release:

What mystifies me is the fact that the the 4th gen regular ipad was also released.

What a great way to piss off the people who got the 3rd gen ipad.

With Steve Jobs, Apple was a religion. Without Jobs, Apple is quickly becoming just another company.

If I was a fan of apple I would be insulted by their latest press conference. All I heard was a dude saying "This is so much better" or "this is so much faster than our competition", "Look at how great this is", etc. without any real solid facts to back this up. They are just counting on the fact that the apple zealots will take all of this as gospel without asking questions or thinking for themselves. You can only do this for so long without innovating (which they haven't done since Steve Jobs died......other than possibly going with the ultra high rez displays, that was a good move). Unless apple starts innovating again than this is the beginning of their slow decline. They are no longer the leaders....they are now followers.

Yep, what that article also doesn't mention is that the iPad mini is 4:3 aspect ratio. If you know basic algebra you will know that being closer to 1:1 ratio means that surface area is more optimized when compared to the diagonal measurement (1:1 is the most optimized). So they kept bragging about the increased surface area of the screen. What they fail to mention is that the screen is 4:3 which is soooo 10 years ago. How are you gonna watch HD content and movies that were filmed in 16:9 HD on that thing? Letter box? LOL, what are we? Back in the 90's?

I think 4:3 is a good compromise for reading (portrait) and media consumption (landscape). Note that most magazines are published at approx. 4:3. Obviously if your primary use is movies and video, 16:9 is preferable.

Sorry to burst your bubble, wont happen, cause then you would upset the alphabetical order of Google Android OS.

Also, from BGR review....

"Its display resolution isn’t up to par. Apple has often been successful despite not engaging in the “specs war” that has consumed other manufacturers. At the same time, the iPad mini’s resolution of 163 pixels per inch is a disappointment, especially when you consider that both the Nexus 7 and the Kindle Fire HD have pixel densities of 216 pixels per inch."

Once again you don't need more than 163.
Don't you know it will make it heavier.
Who wants a heavier tablet?
