I'm thinking of doing a track day, but interested in taking the intro to track course held at cayuga I think, anyone take that course any advice, or should I just bite the bullit and just go do a track day without any previous experience. Thanks

Diego

It's well worth the money. I suggest you go the the "Track Days/Track Riding" subforum and search for "Intro to Track"; You'll find a bunch of threads and reviews for TMP's Intro to Track course.

I did it last year and would highly recommend it!

(here's the first thread I found)

Thanks, I'm thinking of doing the course in aug, how was your sv on the track, I assume you use your own bike

I did the Intro to Track last year on my Ninja 250; it was an absolute blast. This season, I took my SV650s to a regular trackday and was really able to apply everything I learned from the course (from proper track etiquette, to the correct racing line & braking/entry points) during the trackday (check out this thread, after post 33). After doing the trackday, I appreciated the Intro to Track course I took even more. You should really do it! I would even suggest you take it sooner rather than later - why wait until August? If you can get a hold of the proper gear (leather jacket & pants zipped, boots (that cover your ankle), gauntlet leather gloves, and full-face DOT helmet) then register for this Saturday (there is no 'pre-registration' discount, so you won't be losing any money); I'd even be willing to help you get your bike prep'd up for the track.

One thing though, you'll enjoy it so much that you're going to want to get back to the track as soon as humanly possible. You have officially been warned

One course I found excellent for track preparation was Lee Parks' Total Control Advanced Riders' Clinic. Basically, they get you to the point of knee dragging in a parking lot, so by the time you get to the track, you are primed.

There are Mississauga dates in early June, first time it's ever been offered in Canada, and I think the first dates are taught by Lee himself. Course is a full day and is fairly comprehensive, covering brake/throttle control, visualization/mindset, cornering technique and even suspension set up. I got a lot out of it, wish I had taken it before my first trackday.

Anyone here taking this course in Mississauga?

No you should take a course, regardless of the course. Something to give you an idea of basic proper form and the race line. Then you can build on those skills with the help of other riders in the pits at a track day, and most likely desire to take more advanced schools as you learn more.
