Intermittant spark on 1983 XR200

Okay, I'm trying to get my dirty bike ready for a trail ride and am only getting an intermittant spark. So I pulled the plug and kicked the bike over. It will not spark when I hold the plug against the cylinder block but will spark all the time when I hold it against the frame. Any ideas where to start looking? I guess there must be a bad earth (or a wire missing completely) on the block but I dont know where to begin looking.

There's no key. No on/off switch. No battery etc etc.

I had that problem on a dirtbike once, check your engine mount bolts make sure everything is tight.

I checked the bolts as you suggested. I also remade the earth connection to the frame and she lives!!!!

Translation for those not from the mother land:

I fixed the ground connection to the frame and she lives.
