Sigh... when will I be able to get REASONABLE insurance....any ideas?

23 years old MALE, G (5 years+) M2 (1 year+), no claims or tickets (not even a warning from the law enforcers), student.... was paying $18xx/year last year for a 09 kawasaki ninja 250R.

the sad thing is , 3 months of insurance in Canada (liability only) = 1 year of insurance for a 09 Yamaha FZ1 (the litre version of the new fz8, with all the ycci and tcci bells and whistles) where im from and i can ride 24/7 (no snow lol).... do i really have to wait till im 100000 years old just to get to ride a proper fz6/sv650 :(

mostly rant, but just another rider trying to point out the flaws of society lol..... and desperate for a solution to get back on a bike...cause caging everyday takes the fun and sunshine outta my life :)

sorry pal, im in the same boat, however i just decided to bite the bullet because i wanted to ride bad enough...25 years old and thats it no matter how good we are at driving/riding lol

have you checked out statefarm?

the 18xx/ year for 250 WAS from statefarm lol...... you serious on the 25 year old prices? cause 2 years will make ALOT of difference? lol

yea man you didnt know that?? one more year for me and my insurance drops to less then one hundo a month

Being 25 instead of 23 makes a HUGE difference in your insurance rates.

What was the quote on the FZ1?

So you want to ride a proper FZ6/SV650? Then why don't you? I'm paying $28xx comprehensive on a Ninja 650R, 20yrs old, M2.

This should help you get a bit of an idea..I am 23 years old with my G/M2 and insured with State Farm...I have 0 tickets other than 1 "Unnecessary Noise Violation"..I ride a 2010 SV650SA and pay 155 a month for full coverage...

quote for the FZ1 is like 5k/year HKD? thats around 500/year in CDN LOL

dude as i said...im a student, and money is short ( i know...expensive hobby , suck it up :/) i would love to finance a R1 with that kinda insurance money....

I'm absolutely sure SVriders premium has everything to do with his location, which is about an hour away from the GTA. Markham probably has bad statistics so it gets high premiums.

Ya location definetely has something to do with it...Im about 15 mins north of Orangeville...

As a comparison I pay around $220 I believe a month on a 08 Cobalt Sport...2 door...

When you turn 25yo, your rate will drop substantially . . . often close to half with many companies.

Wawanesa will give you the 25yo rate when you are 24yo (I think?), but they don't write SS bikes. There is a good chance that the don't consider the SV650 a SS bike. Talk to a Wawanesa broker to see if you can be riding next year.

I am over 25 hd my M1 and 1 day experience when I signed with state farm and brought my truck there and I pay $71/month with full coverage for an CBR600 F4i.

Thank you for sharing your rates.

I'm in the same age bracket as you are and this gives me hope since I'm a newbie as well.
