This don't seem right to me, but hey. i was told by a insurance company that if i take the policy off my truck and it gets stolen that would be responsible for both parties. and i could be sued.

so im asking if this is true or ********.

There seem to be some words missing... which parties? sued for for what?

Being the registered owner of an un-insured, road-worthy vehicle may have many risks and liabilities, which is probably what they are trying to get at. Just remove some wheels, the battery and some other bits and bobs if you want to reduce that risk.

My uncle had a uninsured car stolen and was sued successfully by the person who stole and crashed it because the tires were bald. It is a seriously screwed up situation

My friend had his car stolen from AMC theaters in Whitby. A month later he was sued because the person who stole it got into an accident because "he couldn't see through the shattered windshield". It didn't make any sense as of course the windshield was fine prior to it getting stolen?? When he went to court you wouldn't believe it.

"The accused (my buddie who had his car stolen) equipped his vehicle with The Club, making it UNSAFE to drive said vehicle. In order for my client to drive the vehicle safely he had to rotate the wheel with enough force to shatter the windshield, causing the condition which made him get in the accident. Had the accused never equipped his car with The Club then my client wouldn't have got into an accident."

WTF is wrong with this world :(

That's not the same thing. Comp cvg (fire and theft) covers the physical damage to the vehicle only. It is not liability coverage for property damage or injuries to other parties.

If the vehicle is stolen by unrelated parties than the registered owner can not be held liable. There are some exceptions and grey areas like if family member or member of the house hold steals it or if the owner does something negligent which allows for it's theft. But the general rule is that if you took reasonable precautions IE not leaving teh keys in the ignition etc, that you are not responsible or liable for damages.

Yea I know there's not liability with comp coverage but I never thought you would need it if someone stole it and they wrecked it
