Insurance Ratings and Credit Scores

Part of the Ontario auto reforms passed in 2010 includes implementation of a regulation that prohibits insurers from using personal credit ratings to underwrite auto policies. Looks like the online petition is an effort to get the Ontario government to ban the practice on home insurance.

Yes Please. If it helps bring down my premiums, i have nothing to hide.

Until someone gets it wrong and you are fighting to get it corrected and dealing with the increased rates until it is settled and then some...

I have had bad info on credit report (but it never affected me, and was fairly painless to resolve - thank dog) but I have heard many many horror stories of complicated and painful resolution processes... Not fun from my knowledge.

In the meantime, as an FYI, you have the right to refuse consent to an insurance company to retrieve your credit rating.

Yep you can, then they will rate you with the worst credit rating. In this economy using credit ratings and scores is a joke. How many 2 income families are reduced to 1 income. How many people who lost there jobs and now have had to work for a third of there former wage, or at a minimum wage part time job. Yep Liberals, they sure are protecting the interests of the citizens of Ontario. Doesn't seem like they are going to passing any new laws for a while now.

McGuinty is gone, the healing can begin. Then we the voters can maybe finally out those ****ers as long as the GTA smartens up and doesn't vote liberal.
