Insurance Quote question (new to this)

Hello guys,

1st of all let me say, this is by far the nicest motorcycle community I encountered!

I am new to the whole motorcycle thing, I have passed my M1 (62\64) about a month ago and in few days I will proceed with safety course provided by Honda. I live in GTA and currently have (as a gift almost) a 1999 Katana 600 cc in great condition. I decided to wait around before I get M2 to save on my ins payments, but I spent some time around online quote websites including TD to see what rates will I get. I entered my m1 as passed in April and my m2 as June(just to check the prices). My average quote was around 4500-+ no matter what info I entered.

I live in Vaughan, I have a private garage and I also indicated alarm system(planing to install one). I am 24 year old, with G license for 5-6.

Am I doing something wrong? As to every single person I spoke - old or young, male or female, their quotes are 700-1900 and most(not all) have far more powerful bikes! Even skimming this forum I encountered prices around the same number, why is my so DAMN HIGH!?

Just to sum up:
Age 24
M1(pending M2 and Safety Course)
Vaughan
Private Garage
Dont have any other cars or bikes, but used to have car insured at The Personal.
1999 Katana 600CC

I did read through the "before you post" post, but that didn't help much...

I count on you guys!

Basically you are a new driver. With a learner's permit licensed less than a year. Wait till you've held your M1 for one year. Then get a bike

Don't do online quotes. Call different insurance companies.

pay to play

OR

wait a year for 25y/o, rate drops as well as 1 year "experience" for sitting on your m2.

shoulda done your homework.

Some really ambiguous posts here that will leave a new person rather confused. Stop posting if youre not going to be specific or helpful. Only reason im saying this is because i see it in other threads too with the same person. People leave general answers for 3 posts that could have been ansered in 1 sentence.

Also any suggestions on who to call 1st?

I agree with you, that before you post thread is completely useless for those under 25, i had the same issue when i first started.

Try those ins companies

For me, age 25, full G licence, only M1 for like 2 weeks since I got the insurance, no MSF, no accidents, my insurance is about $800 a year with StateFarm

They only care that I'm 25, with no accidents, have a G licence (I think they mentioned you have to have held it for 5 years or something like that) and an M1.
