thinking about wr250x or drz400sm

whats my best bet? how bad am i gonna get it.

TD gave me a discount based on a university education. Dual-sports insure reasonably cheap too.

Good luck.

Yes, TD Monnex gives discounts to U of T grads. They also let you pay monthly without extra fees. I switched to TD last season.

They take into consideration when you had your G1, not G so good news, you're at 10 years and past the 25 year price drop. I went down from 4800 to 1490 for an R6 based on that. There is no insurance drop for going from M2 to M, its only based on years held M2 and number of years insured. What years are the bikes? I'd suspect your premiums would be $1000/year or less assuming they aren't brand new models.

Once you have the MSF give desjardins a call. Should be $1000-ish per year depending on where you live. I'm 24 and it's under $1000 on a drz.

im paying 120/mth x 12 full for a drz400 no course with my M1 through state farm

They are killing you with that rate for DRZ400 .... State Farm has been very expensive last 2-3 years since they significantly raised their prices for specific zones, Brampton being one of them. Call TD and I bet you will pay a lot less .... unless you are under 25, but I'd still bet they will be cheaper.

FYI, I was all in $750 a year, 08 WR250X, downtown TO, G for 30 years, no tickets or claims, M2 for a week.

I had a Yamaha XT dual-sport bike and was paying $325/year when I first insured it and then kept going up $25 every year, 7 years later it was at $450/year until I sold it. Bought a 750cc sport-tourer bike that costed me $572/year, now it jumped to $757/year with the take-over of that POS Intact insurance over Jevco.

got a quote from State farm for $920/yr on the drz

this is with the m1 and the agent says it doesn't matter if i get m2 it wont drop until i keep it for a year.

im leaning towards the drz over the WR because of the power

i still have to call TD on tuesday to get a proper quote over the phone because the website shows something like $2300 for the WR with alumni discount.

When you post without your age and location it's hard to tell you whether they are ripping you off or not ....

You are correct, there's not really any difference between M1 and M2 ..... it's all about location, location, age, and record .... type of bike doesn't matter much, unless you are on blacklisted piece.

DRZ is no brainer, considering the price/power ratio .... WR is nice, but way too much money, Yamaha didn't think this through ....
