Insurance for New Rider?

There are similar threads out there, but I didn't really find an answer that are close to my situation. I was given a 1990 Honda VTR250 to me by my brother and I've been trying to find insurance for it. I am 21y/o with a G license and I've got about 4.5 years driving experience(starting from my g1), I only have my M1. I called a few insurance companies like Meloche Mennox, JR Duffy, and state farm( wont insure me without 5 years experience), is there any other companies that will insure me for a reasonable price? Thanks for the help!

What is considered reasonable for you? At that age with so little "experience" with your M license, you'll probably be looking at around $2000-$3000.

Try desjardins. I'm 18 with my g2 and i got quoted for how much insurance would be on a 2010 250r (Kawasaki) with an M2 license. It came to about $3,600 (give or take $150). My advice would be take the MSF course get my M2 then go insurance hunting. Just what I would do.

You might want to consider waiting a year. Many insurance companies will treat that as experience even if you were never insured and never rode during that year. I got my M2 in 2010 but didn't buy a bike until a year later for this exact reason, saved quite a bit on insurance. My first year insured I was 21 with a Ninja 250 paying about $1700/year with TD.

As the above poster mentioned, check out Desjardins, I'm currently with them, my car is with them too and I'm paying much less for the bike now.
